Kieran Morrison
Alright, does anybody know if its possible to get a dent out of the downtube of a frame? May be a stupid question, but my mate dented his brand new echo's downtube today and if his parents see he will probably get banned from using it for a few weeks. So yeah, is it possible? CalopS
dont you buff things to get scratches out and make them shiney? dont see how it could get a dent out Get a carbon protector to cover it up and save it from futher abuse Edited January 22, 2011 by CalopS
dirt jumper jake
No, you cant. Youd need to drill a hole in the dent and use a slide hammer if you wanted to get rid of the dent
Balls Deep trials team
put a sticker over it or body filler ... get a carbon protector

liam n
i have a theory but i gaurantee it wont work where BB is (the hole) if u take the bb out u can stick ur finger in the downtube....if u got a strong piece of metal and some strong wwire u could pull the strong piece of metal through the downtube (undenting the frame) you would pull the wire out through the other side of the downtube (the headtube) if it had a cut out on the front on the bike u probably won't understand u shud probably discard this comment from your mind
Kenny--Trials
To get a dent out you need to hit it from the other side.... As its dented on a circular tube, i doubt it is possibe. The best idea is to buy a downtube protector to protect it from further damage and cover it up, but in the mean time, an old tyre should do the trick. LukasMcNeal
Spot weld a piece of thin metal to the debt and pull it thus removing the dent.
Leistonbmx
Lol, the replies in this thread. Leave it, it's only a dent. Probably tiny anyway.
Alex Dark
Spot weld a piece of thin metal to the debt and pull it thus removing the dent. Put enough heat through it to fuse another metal to it and you'll probably create a HAZ ... just leave it, and tell his parents thats what happens to trials bikes! Meh, I thought that was the word for it! To LeistonBmx, its not exactly wide, but its deep. And very noticable.

HayersToby
Seal one end of the tube clossed and the other with a valve. Ether pump air in or a mix of water and air to blow it back out. Sort of hydo forming.
Rob Leech
Smack the rest of the tube flat so it looks like it was made like that

And i dont know about piercing the metal but its pretty bad.

Ben John - Hynes
You say that.. But I once buffed a snapped frame and when I'd finished.. It was still snapped.
24martin
the simplest way to remove a dent is to remove the part of the frame that's dented... for example, are you tired of that dent on your downtube? why not cut your downtube off completely so you don't have to look at that horrible dent any longer!! but seriously though, if they're going to ban him from riding it if it gets scratched or dented, thats crazy.. why not show his a parents a 10 minute trials bail compilation video on youtube and say this is what happens when you ride trials.
