24martin
hey guys... quick question, on my 2010 zoot frame its got a permanent non-height adjustable pivotal seat tube... but im not entirely satisfied with the seat height and would like to drop it down by about an inch, so i was thinking about cutting off the top part of the seat tube from the frame which has a welded on pivotal system, which im guessing should leave me with a normal seat tube right?? after i've finished cutting a little slot in the back of the tube to allow the seatclamp to crush the tube.. my main concern is the inside diameter of the seat tube and will it be the same fitment as a normal pivotal seatpost, and would the outside diameter of the frame be the right size for a standard size seat post clamp?? does this make sense to anybody haha?? any info on this would be much appreciated, thanks. Revolver
Or, you could cut the top bit off, cut a chunk out, and then weld the top bit back on, making it lower. You'd need someone who can weld, but it would mean providing you get the angle and height right, you never have to worry about it again. wolf_rt
Hi, i am looking at getting a Zoot, but really don't like the fixed seat, as id like to be able to use a longer seat pole for commuting. Did you have any luck putting an adjustable seat post in?
24martin
yea i managed to run an adjustable seat post on my old zoot and im currently running the same system on my zoot pro. i only chose to do this modification so i could lower the seat completely out of the way with about a half inch long seatpost as low as it could go without the seat rubbing the tyre! it wouldn't be a good idea to run a long seat post with a high seat for commuting on this frame because when you remove the integrated seat post, you are left with barely enough frame to run a fully working seat clamp so it just wouldn't work! it works fine with the seat and post as low as it can go with a little customized seat clamp! get a zoot anyway they are very good value for money and really nice to ride!
