TrialsMan Dan
Reet guys im running an Urban fork now which has an extra thick steerer tube and i am aware it requires a different star nut to most forks. I used to have an Ashton fork which had a hollow star nut for running your brake cable/hose through the head tube. I would like to run my cable through the head tube again but im struggling to find a suitable star nut, or is there only one that fits Echo forks? I noticed a while ago that Danny Mac used to run a Hifi fork, im assuming the steerer tube is the same as the Urban, so how did he manage to run his brake hose through the steerer tube? Any help appreciated on this! Dan
bikeperson45
I used this one with my Echo Urbans - http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/headset_spares/gusset_hollow_star_nut_kit/c57p11013.html
cai
Was it hard to fit that star nut in your Urbans? Cos it looks too wide to fit the internal diameter of the Echo steerers..

It is way to wide he will either have earlier or later urbans, i don't think you'll be able to find one, the hollow bolts are about the same size as the hole in the oversized steerer. I have the earlier Urbans, but they have an oversized steer tube thickness.

I know you do i meant the guy giving you advice would have the standard steerer. You could do what i used to and drill a hole into your top cap then run it through that? Only works if the gaps in your star nut are big enough though.
Sam T
What my mate did was bought a headlock, filled the top cap so the cabpe could run up and it worked awesome for him.

I did that on my old Azonic, you will need to make the gap bigger though all i did was drill between the flanges with a M6 drill bit and it worked a treat. TrialsMan Dan
Okay and so how do you tighten the bolt? Ive got a 5mm hex bolt on there, im guessing i'll need something a bit bigger?
