stephenmx50
On my onza zoot 24" every now and then you will here a horid clunking noise coming from somewhere in the crank area. I have removed the bottom bracket and re fitted it all and it all seems very nice fit and smooth, the only area I can think it might be coming from is the front freewheel. It doesn't happen under load more when you load the pedals up ( start a pedal kick etc ...) then back the pressure off (by ratcheting the pedals backwards a little) anyone got any ideas what it could be? It's all working good and smooth but the noise is worrying!
dannytrialskid
Happens to mine. It's most likely your chain slipping. Mine does it probably once every two rides. Look at your freewheel and see if the teeth are like worn or chipped also the chain, see if there are any chips out of the links in the chain. dann2707
This is very odd if the sound is there but yet you aren't getting any resistance/friction :/
Rockman
I have this problem aswell, I'm sure it's the BB, not 100% sure though, it's really annoying!
ireson75
I found I had a funny noise coming from my bottom bracket/crank area. It all ran smooth with no load but made a funny noise when I put pressure on it. I took it apart a few times, checked out the freewheel and bottom bracket and it all seemed fine but the noise continued when being ridden. I then replaced the bottom bracket (it was previously a cheapy VP one) and it all stopped, any now runs really smooth. If its a square taper bottom bracket they only set you back around £10 so its probably worth a try although ISIS bottom brackets are a bit more? stephenmx50
Thanks for the info! It's a Isis b/b and although provbably a cheapish one the bike is only 2 months old so I shouldn't think it would be that? When you say the chain slips do you mean the chain slips over the next tooth, is this possible? I'm confused.com
Echotrials20"
How long has it been doing this. Because it may be you chain isn't in line. Or if it's a new old chain it may be worn, or if it's a new chain the cogs may be worn so the chain doesn't sit on the cogs properly. Dave Anscombe
funny you should mention this as when i rode my bike yesterday ....i heard a knocking sound when i pedal real fast......inspected the bike and one of the pedals were slighlty loose tightend it up no more noise i thought it was the bb or the freewheel Edited January 19, 2011 by Dave Anscombe
onza1
I've asked about this problem, when others say it happens to you how long has it bin doing it for. If it's not you're bottom bracket I don't know. It happens to me I did think it could be the chain, is it still safe to ride? Only advice I can give I to wait and see if summert falls off it must be that. I would also like to knw a solution.
