hooch
Hi guys I have a onza pro 09 with standard cable disc brake on the front, The question should i bother upgrading to a bb7? Will it really make much difference or will a cheap hydro be as good. I found these on chain reaction and have really good reviews. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=47542 Surely these would be better then a mechanical disc any comments or alternatives would be gratefully received. Cheers Dan
Revolver
BB7s are great, and it'd save you from needing a new lever, but do you need a new brake?
hooch
I have had hydro brakes for as long as i can remember and like the feel, The onza brake just feels cheap and i have to pull the lever all the way to the bar for it to be effective. Dave Anscombe
if your still not happy ! and you dont really care about modulation then go for a bb7 they are far better than any hydro ive had .......stupidly powerfull even with a 160 rotor on mod they seriously do stop you and make you fly over handel bars
Joe O'Connor
^but if you have a rubbish cable they feel like crap. Both my BB7's feel horrid, but Im too lazy to get new cables! Awesome stopping power!

hooch
Would getting a new cable and lever for the onza brake make a difference? At least it wont be money wasted as i will need them anyway for a bb7
Revolver
Getting a new cable and lever together should eliminate all the flex. Unless the calliper flexes, lol. A new cable should stiffen things up, but I had a really bendy lever on my bike before and it only went away when I changed levers.
