Luke_zoo
Right my mate has put a new clutch in today in his 106 pug, He tells me it wont go into gear? The clutch is done correctley, but wont go into gear, could this means the gear sector is out somwhere? He wants me to fix it for him, But im unsure on what it could be, Help? CurtisRider
If you think its linkage related, have 1 person in the car, and another person at the engine bay to clarify the clutch arm moves and the selector are moving. The selectors on those are just ball joints that pop on and off, so it will be pretty obvious. To be honest, if he can fit a clutch himself, surely he can figure all that out himself

CurtisRider
why would he cut the bolt off surely to replace that its going to be a gearbox apart job now? Probably shouldn't let him near a car again
Si-man
Thats just as bad as my mate who thinks hes a good motorbike mechanic, using copper slip on his chain as lube and greasing the BRAKING SURFACE of some brake pads, saying "it'll burn off" Some people shouldn't be allowed near vehicles

Matthew_Gibson
clutch in the correct way round? I dont it ONCE on a for Puma the friction plate was facing the wrong way. If it is linkages, what they like? they ball and socket looking ones? they can be a bit ropey, so have a good look that there all in the correct position. Think saxo ones are the same replaced a few in my time......

davey1991
Lol you might have a bit of paper saying youve studied it. but you have no experience at all. When i was at EM center for automotive training, they told me i could skip the diploma and go straight onto the higher levels because i had 4GCSE's above a c grade.... I still don't consider myself a mechanic i just know a bit more than most people.
Will Arnold
either the clutch isn't adjusted properly or the gear linkages are naffed. which bolt did he have off?

That means your learning to know what your talking about. If this guy seriously did do as you said, slap him, slap him hard. no its not -.- .. the amount of hands on stuff we do there, we've done basicly everything now ..even gearboxes which we removed and refitted this week

I did two years computer programming at college, that doesn't count as two years experience. Stuff like "even gearboxes which we removed and refitted this week " proves that you're not experienced - and experienced mechanic wouldn't even need to mention that. I'm not really interested to be honest, just not into people that try and blag.

Bucky
f**king gobby little shits thinking they know everything about cars because they have been at a college one day a week for a few months, being talked at by some failed ex mechanic who couldn't manage a career at it himself so decided to blag it and make himself feel good by reciting from text books to kids whilst they don't listen. Diploma? ohh laa dee dar!! aint worth shit. I assume by the lack of replies from the OP that the issue has been sorted now? alistair14 - please make my day and just try and defend yourself.
