Little Yoshi
When ever I try to sign into MSN Messanger(sp) it coes up with a message saying " There might be a problem with your internet connection. Make sure it is connected to the internet, which it is. Then saying about my firewall not letting it through but it should be as its listed as one of the programs that my firewall lets in. So any other ideas on how to sort this?
Hannah Shucksmith
Have you googled the little code thing it gives you? That always sorts me out.

JT!
Turn off firewall just for a bit and see if it works. If not, just leave it for a day and it'll work tomorrow.
Little Yoshi
80072745 Thats the code that comes up. Tried google. No help. Thanks anyway. It should pass the firewall though. And been like this for 3 days now. Edited January 13, 2011 by Little Yoshi
anzo
Uninstall, reinstall. I don't use MSN personally, but isn't there supposed to be some issue with the Windows clock not being right?
Little Yoshi
Just installed it.
An_toin3
Is that the live messenger 2011 version ? (pure shit to be honest) If yes, find yourself an older version of msn.. or, do you have AVG as your anti-virus ? If not, well, i'm afraid I won't be able to help at all. 1a2bcio8
Check internet explorer isn't set to "offline" or "work offline" (whichever it is). Stupidly this will stop messenger working. Happened to me not so long ago.
Revolver
Is that the live messenger 2011 version ? (pure shit to be honest) Avoid at all costs. Uninstall all your windows live shit, go find the 2009 (I think) windows live installer, and relish in the fact that sometimes older stuff is better than new stuff. I had the 2011 version for all of a minute until I decided to reinstall '09. It's such complete and utter wank. RobinJI
Right, I'm gunna bump this back up because my laptop has decided it wants me to upgrade to the new messanger, I don't really feel any need to upgrade, nor do I care either way to be honest, but judging by this thread it's probably not the best idea. Trouble is it's insitant on not letting my use windows live messenger until I've upgraded The bigger problem would be that when I do try to install the new version, the piece of sh*t just comes up with a message saying that the file isn't compatible with windows and the installation fails. It just comes up with this: I've tried uninstalling everything first, but when I try to (using "uninstall a program" in the control panel) it goes through all the business, and tells me it's uninstalled it all, but everything's still their after. So: How the hell do I remove this version that's stuck on my laptop and wont let me use its self? Where can I get an older version, or even just the new version that actually works! Laptops a fujitsu siemens thing using vista home premium.
omgnoseat
You could try an alternative msn client, pidgin is a nice example.
JT!
My honest advice. Step 1: Uninstall MSN. Don't keep in touch with any of your friends who still use MSN in an attempt to make them follow you. Step 2: Install Skype. Step 3: Use Skype. Really, the IM'ing world would be a better place if we all ditched MSN.
RobinJI
I'll give pidgin a try, but it would still be nice to get this crappy version of MSN off my computer. Seems a bit pointless it being there if it's just going to tell me to upgrade and not let me use it.
MadManMike
Skype is indeed much better. MSN is a resource hogging pile of junk.
RobinJI
Right, tried pidgin, and it sucked, so it's now uninstalled.
