jon1988
Hey guys, it's gonna be my 2nd season this summer and I still have a lot of issues with any lines that is not short. I know that my breathing is a part of my problem but I'm not in a very good shape as well. Does any of you have some tips or some sort of a guide for getting in shape specificly for trials? Do you know any good working breathing methods? because i'm always just too concentrated doing my lines that i forget to breath. Thanks fellas. -Jon

narrowbars
In all seriousness though would you consider your self generally un-fit? If so maybe take up a different type of exercise as well as trials? Consider a bit of cross country or road riding, if not that then may be look into running or going to a gym. Anything will help even if it's walking places rather than driving.

jambo
Over the past 9 months ive been riding to work every day then putting in a few extra mles on odd nights after work. You will soon notice the difference, plus ive also lost a bit of weight which is cheaper than buying lighter bike parts.

Dwarf Shortage
? I remember being told in P.E., if you're out of breath while running, breathe in through the nose and out through your mouth, it helps you take in more oxygen and expels it faster ready to inhale sooner. As for getting fit, different things will affect different body types differently, and if you're that bothered it could be worth looking into a personal trainer or something, someone who knows what they're doing. I found trials kept me fit quite well, and helped develop muscle, but you've got to be at a point where trials is accessible to you and you can progress with your body, before you can get to the stages of trials where fitness plays a definite role, as stuff like learning to trackstand, pivot, etc. isn't going to have an enormous effect on fitness. SamKidney
I always used to suffer from this when I first started trials. I came from a Dirt Jump background, where absoloute strength or fitness is less important. I found i just had to keep riding. Trials has played a big part in my overall muscle development, stamina and skill on any bike. I got booked into a gym and would run for half an hour, followed by weights then finishing with some stretches. To get your stamina up, try ride something else along with trials. I ride bmx tracks on my dmr and set myself a time to get round. Helps loads
