Brakes And Cranks

Hi

I recenly bought a set if onza ice pads and a new cable a week later and they are shite but I don't know why.

Also my cranks are making a funny noise when I pedal kick what is up with my bike

First i've ever heard about them pads being 'shite', so you must be doing something wrong. As i dont no your set-up, im going to say put a fresh grind and let them bed in. :)

About your cranks, it could be down to a number of things. Check your crank is tight, and spray some kind of lubriacant in there to stop it creaking. (Y)

The ol man bashed te crank on the door tonite could that be the problem I will tighten them what tool fits th t~bird cranks? As for the brakes me new cables split already could that be a problem. The cranks arent creaking as such there making a bangy clicky noise when I pedal kick?

Bloody bike :(

It could be, although it seams unlikely that it would creek due to being bashed as most the.time when your tyre slips off a wall it would smack the crank arm.

If your cable is or almost has snapped then I strongely reccomend you change it! Mostly for safety reasons, if that snaps doing a gap to front for example it could hurt. It can also make your brake feel spongey. Hope this helps!

A dry interface between the crank arm and bb will cause a creak. The only other reason would be a knackared BB.

If it was me i would grease it first. Its going to cost virtually nothing, where as taking it to a bike shop they will probably just replace the BB straight away even if its unnececerry.

Could also be the pedals I guess.

Main thing with taper cranks is to keep them tight. If you ride with them loose (cranks on a new bike, for example, will usually come loose quite quickly as everything beds in. If you don't keep them tight, they'll likely to round out), then you'll stretch/distort the tapers on the cranks and have to get a new arm/pair of arms.
