Laurence--Trials
A friend mentioned me competing a few days ago and scinse that i've seriously been considering it. But want to find out a bit more. Where is the nearest place to norfolk i can compete? I know you can compete at barrow farm (Essex) But i dont know any other places. What Rules do they use? UCI or BUI? (not convinced is bui correct?) This is probally aimed more at the people i've ridden with before.. but what catorgory should i compete in? Im 15 can side hop around 35+ inches can kick a bit higher and tap around the same.. Do i need anything to compete? Am i achually good enough to compete? Sorry i know have a fair few questions.. but thats what the forum is for, right.

How high you can side hop doesnt really determain which level you should enter, Its more technical ability rather than power moves at lower levels. I would (and did) go for intermediate as i wasnt a total newbie. You can change class pretty easy if you choose the wrong class too. You need a bike, helmet an acu licence and a club membership. How do i get the licence and club membership? Beginer (green) Novice (white) Intermediate (Blue) Expert (Red) Elite (yellow) You have to find a local club ebtc for example, become a member, fill in the acu licence form, get the club secutary to sigh in then send it off to be processed.http://www.ebtc.net/ all links are on there website Edited January 12, 2011 by Franksx2005
Laurence--Trials
Cheers franks, fantastic help here Do you have to pay for the licences? No doubt you do for the membership.. Art. 02 TRACK The track will be constructed on paths, roads and in forests (if necessary), along which the sections will be arranged. The maximum lengths per lap are: 5 km for Group A and 2 km for Group B & C. Riders must perform the sections twice. Riders must follow the designated route and must not take an alternative route to shorten the distance. What does that mean? I have to do trials for 5 or so Km? like.. miles?.. distance? Not sure where you get that from? but thats not the case. the sections can vary in size depending on difficulty, you have 2 mins to do them. I have only done one trial so far but in the one i done there was 6 sections and you had to do 3 laps, but this can vary. its about a tenner for licence and a tenner for membership. isitafox
Have a look on www.biketrialuk.co.uk, they list almost every trial on throughout the year (once the dates have been confirmed) and give you links and access to the individual clubs and all the info you should need regarding rules. The British Nationals also have a round at Barrow Farm which hopefully I'll get down for this year and you don't require membership for the nationals which is handy!
