CurtisRider
I have brought my trials bike back to uni after not riding for quite some time, and apart from being uber rusty at it, my bike also needs some fettling. If people remember it, its the frame i built in about an evening out of recycled tubing from other frames... Now, as you can see it has a pretty high bb rise, and so a high front end is needed to compensate. Even with the stackers, the bars are still a touch low for me (i used to run 2.5 double walls which were about right). What bars would you lot recomend? Ideally to fit a standard 25.4mm stem as i cant really afford to be buying a new stem as well and i quite like my RF one. I would like them to be of a similar feel to the azonics as they were incredibly comfy! i guess 2.5-3inch rise would be good. My brake levers are just generic cheap things and not overly comfortable. would these avid ones be ok? My headset is beyond its best and could do with replacement, within reason a headset is a headset they are much the same and so with that thinking FSA vs M-Part seem to be cheap and good ones? I think thats all i will need for now, the rest seems pretty solid Thanks in advance for any help! EDIT: Oh and budget, cheaper the better really, not fussed about being pimp or super light weight these days (as you can tell by the steel frame, forks and 3 piece cranks...) Scott Gibbs
prehaps a set of 3" Gusset open prison bars there 22.2mm and comes with 25.4 shims for your stem. As for headset i run a FSA pig dh which is a good solid headset and cost me about 19 quid so not mega expensive and levers wise i have a pair of avid sd7 levers which are fantastic, comfy to use, solid well made and plenty range of adjustment also. Back to the bars the gussets are best suited really to streety/bmxy type riding If thats what your into they should be ok but probably not suited to Proper trials as there not wide enough or that kinda shape. Skoze
I've got some Funn 3" risers sat here doing nothing if they're any use to you? Proper streety and raise the front up pretty well. Those levers will be alright, but i don't particularly like the feel of them (feel like the cheap levers they are when it comes to movement, or have on everyone's bike i've ridden at least) Currently got XTR levers which are quite literally the comfiest things in the world! They flex a bit, but it's your call. Can be picked up cheap second hand. Edited January 9, 2011 by Skoze
