Scott Gibbs
I know i know another "which should i get " thread but please bear with me. Im in need of a new frame as i killed my old saracen somw while ago. I was intending on switching to 24" but now its financally not viable. So i want to buy a 26" street frame as nice as the hex is it out of my price range so i have narrowed it to the Because street or the Rockman switch. Both are nice lookin but im swaying towards the switch as its a touch shorter and has a lower BB too. As this is my 1st modern stock frame im slightly unsure. Any reveiws or advice would be very welcome. Thanking you please.
Luke Rainbird
If the Inspired is out of your budget, the Rockman or a Marino with Hex geo would probably be pretty safe bets
Ross McArthur
Theres also a few short street frames kicking about the FS section for a good price. PX FS Stonker of a deal!!! The Ashton is a total steal! I was very tempted by this before I got my Marino.....Theres also always a Marino lol Edit. DO NOT GET A SWITCH OR A BECAUSE, 1060 STREET? NAAAAAAT! Scott Gibbs
The ashton is tempting mate. But surely thats longer than the switch though?
Little Yoshi
Have a Saracen Xile frame kicking about it if you want it. Edited January 6, 2011 by Little Yoshi
sstein
There are some old school revell street trials frames on ebay for like £40 posted. They are little heavy cause they are steel and they are disc only, plus the rear end is a little long. However they seem to have character are really short and seem quite streety plus I feel that steel is the only way to go for street, in fact I just got one my self. Scott Gibbs
Have a Saracen Xile frame kicking about it if you want it. Thats what i was riding. I was really after a "proper" stock frame with a seat! To be honest with you mate.
sstein
Get a marino with Hex geo. though saying this it depends on your style, if you are fast and flowly and like to spin a lot get a marino or a hex. if you want a bike that you can ride proper trials on while retaining the ability to manual and hop easily (not to mention the occasional spin) then get the because or the rockman. I ride a short echo control which is a pretty similar geo and have a proper street (non trials) bike as well. I can spin the echo fine but nothing like I can with a proper street bike because 1065 is still a bit long though it does mean I can still do static stuff and don't feel too cramped. also how tall are you? Scott Gibbs
Im 5' 8" i have ridden mtb street for the last few years. Im looking for somthing in the mid ground really. Something i can manual and spin but not so short it will comprimise my learning of "proper" trials also. Im not sure the WB length will be that much of an issue on the switch as my old mongoose ritual was almost as long as the switch and i could beast that around. sstein
While that may be true a mtb will undoubtedly have a higher front end which makes it easier for instance i have a mtb with the same wb as my trials bike but a longer rear end and lower bb but a much higher front and i can 180 that up things which i struggle with on my trials bike (despite it also being a lot lighter). although i can manual my trials bike easier and can also 3 it which I cant do on the mtb (although once again i stuggle to gain height and distance on these). I would recommend the a marino in hex geo though really it is up to you.
bikeperson45
1065 is a good average between trials and street to me, but for 180s and all that shorter would be better. I ride my Levelboss a bit and find it pretty good for sidehops and static spins.

If you want something to ride a bit like an mtb street bike but still allow you to learn trials 1035mm wb is pretty spot on. If you want to do more static stuff but still be able to ride a bit streety 1065 is good, though i also found that 1085 worked quite well for me (probably just me though)
Scott Gibbs
Hmmm there is alot to think about here more to it than i thought!
Ross McArthur
Bender, come on. What style would you like to have on a bike like this, as in, what kind of thing would you like to do on it? I still think you should go for the Ashton. 1035 with a 73ha, spot on for front wheel moves and bunny hops. Its really light too. Plus, theres not many of those frames kicking about anymore, so snap up the relic fast!!

Scott Gibbs
I would like eventually to ride abit like Ali C does. But im still learning the basics of trials that was why i was thinking about the rockman as its kinda in the middle ground between street and TGS if you get what i mean. I wanted something that wont hold up my progression but when the mood takes i can still mess around.
Ross McArthur
Is that a 1035? what is the bb and cs? Yea man its 1035. BB is around 0, not too sure. CS is 385. I would like eventually to ride abit like Ali C does. If you still want to have a bit of a pogo stick then I suppose the Switch or the Because would be a good choice. I rode a Marino with round about the same Geo as the Switch and got on ok with it for streety moves but I had to run a super high front end to make it bunnyhopable. Now im on a shorter frame everything I seem to do on it is easier.....Apart from TGS lol Edited January 7, 2011 by Ross McArthur
Scott Gibbs
A high front end goes without saying! I need high bars ect, to feel comfortable on any bike i ride.
