isitafox
I'm planning on doing a charity bike ride in the summer, not sure what charity I'll do it for, probably a local one, but before I confirm my plan I want to check how long the route is. So, can anyone direct me to maybe a program or website that will let me map out a cycle route so I can see how long it actually is? I've tried googling stuff but the only websites I can find only deal with roads so I can't plan the offroad sections and it would also help to be able to show people a map of the route I plan. Bearing in mind this won't be a massive coast to coast style ride, I just plan on doing a local trail on my mod with the gearing and lack of seat being the obvious challenge of the ride. Can anyone help??
Revolver
You tried walk jog run? It lets you put milestones or check points or whatever you'd call them, but you can move them around away from roads so you can put them going through the grounds of somewhere there isn't roads. http://www.walkjogrun.net/
isitafox
Revolver your my hero, that site's fantastic! Just spent the past hour marking out the smaller of the 2 routes I'm considering and it turns out it's 10 miles all the way round, never seemed that long when I used to ride it years ago but it seems pretty respectable for a trail ride to be done on a mod. Just have to plan the other route now and see how that looks, though I reckon I'll do it at home as the network at work is SO slow!!
Revolver
Aaay. It's a good little site, really good for planning runs - unsurprisingly - but I used it to find the shortest way to work on my bike.. if you know any little back alleys you can factor them in and see if it's worth it without having to try it and suffer being late. isitafox
I'm gonna knock up a poster with a quick explanation and pics of the difference so people see what the challenge about it all is. Not gonna be owt massive obviously but if I can raise even £100 for a local charity it's a bonus for them. Will be lookin for sponsors on here of course though!! Little Yoshi
Used to cycle about 5- 10 miles on the 24. Its not to hard but start to train once the snow goes. Just need to get used the distance. Also cheat a wee bit and pump your tryes sky high.

On that site is there anyway you can make it stick to the roads?
