SamKidney
As per title and description really. How well does this rim hold a grind? Ive put mine on fresh today and it looks a little light allready, considering that it was a medium / harsh grind this morning. Might try regrinding with a thinner disc. Help appreciated. SamKidney
Need to know, it might just have been my grind but Im not too sure :/
Mark W
The disc you use genuinely doesn't make much difference at all, it's just technique. I used to use the Trialtech SL rim on the back of my mod (which is just the single wall version of the Sport) and it held a grind fine. Lock_N_Load
You don't want to keep grinding it again otherwise the rims will get weaker fast, it is usually after 2-3 months for another grind. And when you say the rim grind looks lighter this is because maybe after the grind you didn't clean the rim off? there is still loose material after the grind so it looks like a deeper grind until you clear it off. Also people cant really tell whether a grind is to light by looking at it, its how the brake pads bite into the grind is how you can tell the grind is wearing off or not, if the braking doesn't seem as good as it first was then you can tell that the grind is too light. hope this helps. SamKidney
Yeah that helps, I'l clean out the grind with a wire brush and see how things go. It was my first grind too so went easy with it as I didnt want to chop my rim in two! Have managed to get hold of a few old mtb rims so will practice my grinding technique on them first Thanks for the help guys Edited December 29, 2010 by Echo Lite
