Ben H!
While doing a hill climb most riders stay in the same gear. True, 3rd of 4th gear I find is the best. For hillclimbs the best way I find is, Get your balance first at the bottom of a hill, Rev it wide open & Slip the clutch very fast, That way the rear tyre gets spinning at the bottom of the hill, rather than it starting to spin at the top, & I find it very much tends to grip all the way up, If you feel like it starts spinning, Just slip the clutch for a second, Also keep your throttle on all the way, The biggest reason why people don't get up hills, is because they let the throttle off to soon, & also keep your body very far down on the bike, that way it has less chance of spinning. That's the best technique for hillclimbs Edited December 30, 2010 by Ben H!
