Dave!
Just divide the front by the rear to determine if the gearing will be too hard/easy.....i.e 18/12=1.5. So every turn of the cranks turns the wheel 1.5 times. Where as my bmx has 28-9 ratio.....so thats like 3.1, twice as hard to pedal. Just comes down to personal preference I guess. But as said above 18-12 is what most people use. Edited December 31, 2010 by Dave!

gurider2010
A 18t freewheel and a 12t sprocket is the usual gear ratio. At the minute i am running a 18t freewheel and 14t rear sprocket , to me the differance between the two is hard to tell , anything over 14t sprocket would be weird.
