whatever
Hi guys. On the lookout for a second hand Inspired Fourplay but if nothing comes up soon I've going to go crazy so may have to resort to buying one new. The one I've seen that fit's my budget is specced as follows: Wheels * Front hub: Trialtech Sealed Bearing, Black * Rear hub: Trialtech Sealed Bearing, Black * Chain tensioner: Trialtech, Black * Front rim: Inspired Pro, undrilled, Black * Rear rim: Inspired Pro, undrilled, machined sidewall, Black * Spokes: Sapim Race DB, Black * Rim tape: Trialtech, Black * Inner tube (front): Kenda * Inner tube (rear): Kenda * Front tyre: Kenda K-Rad 2.3" * Rear tyre: Kenda K-Rad 2.3" Brakes * Front brake: Magura Louise 180mm, Black * Rear brake: Magura HS33, Black * Brake clamps: Magura HS33 Drivetrain * Cranks: Trialtech Sport Forged ISIS, 175mm, Black * Front Sprocket: Trialtech Screw On 23T * Chain: Trialtech Lite * Pedals: Trialtech Race Platform, Black * Bottom bracket: Trialtech ISIS * Bashring: Inspired 7075 Seating * Saddle: Inspired Pivotal, Black * Seatpost: Inspired Pivotal * Seat Clamp: Inspired Steering * Headset: Trialtech, Black * Stem: Trialtech, Black * Grips: Trialtech Race Rubber, Black * Handlebars: Inspired Riser, White (White frame) I'm interested in finding out a few more things about certain parts of this build. Back in the day when I was riding a few years back, Trialtech wasn't around as far as I'm aware. Are the hubs any good? Chris King + Fun Bolts was always the best, wondering if this is still the case? Same question for cranks, bb etc. I never had to worry about the RS7's, does the Trialtech equipment hold up in a similar regard? What are user experiences with the Maggy Louise front brake? The Avid cable disk was easily the best brake I ever owned, has it been superseded and is the Louise as good? Also I'm pretty keen to explore running the front cable through the steerer tube. Is this possible with a hydraulic brake? Are the Inspired rims pretty strong? Sorry about all the questions, have searched and found some stuff but keen to hear more, it's been a while! Cheers. Skoze
Hi guys. I'm interested in finding out a few more things about certain parts of this build. As far as i know, yes - they're good. Remember Dave from Tarty? It's his company and he's put a LOT of effort into it. Everyone holds them in pretty high regard, so they're a safe bet for parts. Kings and Hope Pro2 Trials hubs are both on a level nowadays really, i'd always go for the King as my old one was incredible, but the Pro2 i got from OBM has been awesome too and for a fraction of the price, you can't go wrong. If you do go down the king route though, go second hand and get one with a proven track record from someone you can trust. Trialtech cranks are also good from what i've heard from friends and seen on here, so you can trust them! I'm just like you though, 'Burns will always be the be all and end all of trials cranks for me. What are user experiences with the Maggy Louise front brake? The Avid cable disk was easily the best brake I ever owned, has it been superseded and is the Louise as good? Also I'm pretty keen to explore running the front cable through the steerer tube. Is this possible with a hydraulic brake? Good, but the Avid would probably still be better. The BB7's are absolute monsters and can feel like you've just ridden into a wall no problem, but they are very on/off as opposed to the Louise which has a much more progressive feel which is what i've really noticed from riding other people's bikes. Apparently the new BB7 calipers are pretty flexy, but this is just what pther people have said - i've only ever run Hopes (thought about a second hand Mono Trial?) and Avid Vees (also a cracking alternative to discs for a 24") after seeing the light and running away from HS33s. All depends on what you want out of a brake really! And i see no reason why you couldn't do it, it'll be exactly the same as doing it with a cable brake with a hollow star nut + top cap, you'll just have to disconnect the hose from the caliper (or lever, whatever's easiest) and then re-bleed it when it's through. Should be fine! Are the Inspired rims pretty strong? I've seen the abuse Sam Nichols gives his and they've held up well, so yes. Sorry about all the questions, have searched and found some stuff but keen to hear more, it's been a while! Cheers. Lock_N_Load
as far as I am aware all the trialtech products are great, I have trialtech cranks, pedals, BB(bottom bracket) and chain and they are superb. I do have a Louise disc brake on the front and it is as good as can be. and about putting the cable through the steerer tube, I have seen bikes with this done before so I don't see why you shouldn't. hope this helps
Mark W
That spec's got a Trialtech freewheel on the back of it, so it wouldn't be a fixie. It's also a pretty nice spec in general.

In which case, ignore me! Thought he'd out it down as a spec he was gonna build up and had overlooked it, rather than a copy pasta from you guys
Mark W
It sort of is and it sort of isn't It's written out how we do them, but doesn't have the freewheel listed which our's does have... Meh, no biggie either way.
Matt Vandart
Everything sounds good to me, I wouldn't change anything really except for the sucky hs33 on the back.
Mark W
I'd stick with the HS33 just to avoid the pad banging you get from landing spins with V-brakes. Bearing in mind Ali used to promote V-brakes in an even more annoying way than you do, the fact he changed to Maguras for his Inspired should say a lot Not to mention the amount of scaffolding you need to run on there to get V's to work on 4-bolt mounts... Matt Vandart
Or take a leaf out of your book and bin the brakes!
multi tasking male
well i am set on getting some inspired rims after christmas for my 24" because if they come standard on the inspired hex and fourplay team then there not going to be bad rims, looking at the abuse ali c gives them i dont think you can realy go wrong, there not cheap eathier. from what i have seen and heard of trial tech products they are prety solid, never owned any triltech parts but many big named riders use trial tech (ali c, rowan johns, ect.) so i dont think you can realy go very wrong with that set up, you could get a second hand fourplay with a better spec for the same price but it wont be new (new is best ) but if you go second hand i would agree with everyone with the hubs (hope pro2s or kings) hope this helped chris
