Token
Hey guys, just browing HotUkDeals. Because I'm getting on a bit and I enjoy a good deal and I came across these on Chain reaction cycles. Reduced from £160 to £41.98 and thought it was a pretty good price (74% cheaper). Someone might benefit from it so I thought I'd share. The Links Here.
haydon_peter
There is a reason they are so cheap... With that system you use the brake lever to brake as well as shift gear. Not many mountain bikers like the idea of the system
Miles Mallinson
I hate them brakes, so pointless my friend had them on his giant, it such a stupid idea if you like feel in your levers they are so bad because your gonna accidently flick the lever down to the granny ring or something annoying like that. I thought this was a spam thread at first but maybe not.
Token
So you change gear with the lever the same as if you were on a Road bike? Fair enough if they're no good, I've got a bit out of the bike game now I just thought someone might benefit as they seemed pretty cheap. Fixed Pants™
Worst. Idea. Ever. Take the piss out of my manager at least thrice a week for having them on his Whyte.
haydon_peter
So you change gear with the lever the same as if you were on a Road bike? I believe the system is slightly different but basically yes. On a road bike the levers are mounted vertically on drop road bars and you use the bike on smooth surfaces. On a mountain bike the levers are mounted horizontally which I think would increase the risk of accidental shifting but the main concern I have is that the bike will be used on rough uneven terrain. I don't like the thought of accidentally shifting while braking over some rough terrain coming into a corner.
Tomm
They aren't actually THAT bad to use, it just means you're locked into an outdated system. The price is about right - If I had a commuting bike or something I might think about them.
