LukasMcNeal
Hey guys thinking of buying a 3GS and just wanted to know how they are unlocked? I'm buying off eBay and most have the latest software iOS 4 or whatever it is. How would I go about unlocking it? Cheers for any help

Token
Anyone? It really depends on what iOS it's on, it can vary a bit for each one. Once you know what its running then I'm sure google could sort you out. I'm not sure if it's still the case but a while back, quite a few of the new Basebands that Apple were updating the phones with couldn't be unlocked so either buy one that's been unlocked already or get one you know for sure you can do yourself. Fixed Pantsâ„¢
If you wanna jailbreak it you can get ultrasn0w which is the unlocker, through the cydia store... Usually works!

I was wondering if its possible without jailbreaking? I jailbroke my iPod an eventually it just got to slow with all the things on it. That's because you put too much shit on it, not because you jailbroke it
LukasMcNeal
Maybe, but also cydia takes bloody years to load and you can't update the software can you? Edit: bloody iPod auto correct! Edited December 22, 2010 by LukasMcNeal
Luke Dunstan
Maybe, but also cydia takes bloody years to load and you can't update the software can you? Edit: bloody iPod auto correct! To be honest you're best off going to the network it's on and asking if they can do it. Phone shops can do it without jail breaking, but you can't update it unless you don't mind unlocking it every time you do. You're best off getting one that's already 'sim free'.
