onza1
Was thinking about my brakes on the onza and wondered what to do, do I put a booster on my v or buy a maggie, just want to know the pros and cons of both vs and mags Thanks in advance
Ben John - Hynes
If it has V mounts, then there's NO good reason to use a maggie. If it has maggie mounts- use the search. There's been loads of these before.
onza1
Well it has v mounts but I can buy a kit that makes it fit rim brakes, what I'm trying to say is a maggie better than a v ?

dirt jumper jake
What he said, no point putting maggies on v mounts using evo2 mounts, there shocking to setup
craigjames
Don't bother with Magura's if you don't have Magura mounts. A well set up vee brake with a booster will never have the same level of bite as a Magura but the amount of hold they offer is amazing. Decent pads, Linear Slic outer cable, Shimano Deore arms, avid lever and a decent booster and you'll be sorted
onza1
What about the onza v adaptors so I can run limey pads and then a evo x booster from chain reaction does that sound like a safe setup
rab shropshire
i would go for a set of cnc pads like heatsink, phat or tnn. and the echo booster of tarty, those onza adaptors have quite a bit of play in them Edited December 19, 2010 by rab shropshire
Ben John - Hynes
Get some proper V pads?
cai
Vee's and Maguras are on par with each other really. When both set-ups are used with the same set of pads the V-brake will usually offer more hold, and the Magura's usually offer more bite. Their are pro's and cons of both brakes: Vee's are a tad trickier to set them up well, but once they're on you can leave them do their thing for ages. Whereas Maguras are pretty simple to set up, but I forever found myself re-bleeding them due to me splitting hoses etc.. Thats why I use an Avid Ultimate V-Brake It really is personal preference, but Magura's are shite when paired with Evo2 mounts. If I were you I'd get an Oddessy Linear slic cable, SD7 arms & lever, and a pair of aluminium backings with Heatsink/TNN/RockMan pads. That'd be a great set up man..
craigjames
The V booster on CRC is made of plastic and i'm sure someone on here tried one with not so favourable results. Try and get one second hand from here or from ebay, I managed to get a Salsa carbon booster and it's awesome. Apart from the Onza lime pads not being so great, the added width you'll get from running those and the pad adaptors could make set up difficult, get yourself a set of TNN, Rock or Heatsink vee pads and backings and you'll be sorted in the long run. If you can't afford those a set of the inspired pads will be an improvement over standard black pads. Out a wanted thread up in the wanted section for what you want and see what comes up.
onza1
Right ok boys thanks for that, I'm sort of questioning my recent purchase I've just bought the phase 1.2 because of the mags instead of one with a front disc and rear vs payed a extra £50 for it aswell nevermind shit happens :/
