And Now For Something Completely Different...

Yeah, I think bits will change on it eventually but not for a while yet. Everything still works and it's a pretty good weight, so that's cool with me. Think the only thing I'd particularly like to change would be the rear rim 'cos although I'm a basher I'm not that much of a basher :P

Got to ride it today a little - the covered rock spot had had some snow blow in, so it meant a reasonably large percentage were un-rideable. Still got a chance to get a feel of things and try and get used to riding a bike that's long again. It's a fun change from the brakeless bike, although seeing Ali flowing around on his Hex did make me miss my Inspired a bit...

Fortunately they've been at that price for more than a week. Either way, we can't really make Koxx decide their pricing structures based on who's buying our products. When I bought my weekly batch of bagels from Sainsburys last week they were £2 a bag, but when I went in yesterday they were 2 bags for £2.50. Just the way it goes sometimes.

Well well well ;)

Adam's currently getting all Westwood on me and pimping my ride using a lathe and an old headset. Winner.

I'm not sure who copied who but Stan can confirm this was in the pipline for a while :giggle:

2 questions: Rolling a half link for the Der Kaiser? You running an adaptor for the brake? +20?

We'll have a pimp - off some day.

It actually works out to be a bigger saving per bagel than the percentage you'd save on a Sky, plus I missed the chance of getting to mix up the cinnamon & raisin with multiseed.

I was aware of it through Adam from Friday. So yeah, I snaked you on it :P Good choice though either way, mine was mega fun yesterday!

I've got a Maxxis High Roller single ply on there at the moment and I might stick with that for the time being. I've got a Rain King off Ali that I might try fitting some time soon, but seeing the trials and tribulations of Stan's Der Kaiser Adventure has sort of put me off that gig. Not keen on half-links much, and not keen on split-links much. Haven't seen him break one yet, but Stan has the benefit of technique whereas I just kick like a startled mule.

It seems pretty reasonable so far. Still getting the pressure dialled in for it but after doing a bit of riding at the indoor today it seems fine. Not going to be as stable and ridiculous as a Der Kaiser or Rain King I guess, but it is 0.5kg lighter I suppose...

Aaargg! No Mark! Single ply 2.5 maxxis tyres don’t perform too well on the back of trials bikes. Try out the Rain King instead!

As for the half links... The older half links Tarty used to do were badly thought out. The pin had to be pressed through the half link its self, creating the weak point exactly where you didn’t want it! I bought a new one about a month or two ago and the design has changed. The link comes already joined to another full link. Better imo.

The one I had ages ago wasn't too bad, and I've seen plenty of people using them. Adam's seemed quite nice on his GU/Hydroxx before popped a Trial Queen on. I'm keen to get the Conti on, but not really up for the hassle of getting it to work yet.

Single-walled my rear rim just now, and Ads has tweaked some pimpy headset type arrangement on the lathe for me to use, weight's down to 9.1kg. Feels lighter than that to ride though, from the limited indoor riding I've been doing.

My riding's consisted of rounded-ish rocks and pallets so far, so if I'd managed to get a pinch by this point I'd have been disappointed ;) I usually run higher PSI than a lot of other people too which might also help with that. Don't think I saw Ads get a flat when I rode with him, although he is pretty smooth...

It's unlikely this bike's going to be coming into contact with any rails. It's pretty much strictly going to be used for natural, apart from the 'fake' natural at the Moon Rocks and the rock island by my/our (Ali's too :P) house. Not really interested in riding street trialsy sort of stuff, 'cos that's what my Inspired's for ;)

EDIT - I'm not trying to say it's a wonder-tyre or anything like that, 'cos it's obviously got pretty thin sidewalls, but it should hopefully do me alright.

sell out!

narr, it is a nice bike at an offer you cant refuse! It's still strange riding a long bike again, but it would be at the top of my list if I had to get a pure compy bike again, plus I get the amusement of Mark's T REX© backhopping style
