saunders
I am thinking of getting one of the gusset seats from tarty bikes for my megamo and using a shim and some sort of glue to bond it in (due to lack of space on the seat tube to use a clamp). Has anyone else done this before? If so what glue did they use? Cheers Edited December 16, 2010 by saunders
Mark W
I bonded my Pivotal post into my frame, and I just used some Araldite (used some non-branded epoxy resin this time that was - apparently - specifically for use with metals which seemed to be a bit different to the stuff I'd used before). Seemed to work fine

Mark W
B&Q do the unbranded metal epoxy resin stuff that I used. I don't know if it's 'cos Ali mixed it up wrong, but it seems to be thicker/more viscous than 'normal' Araldite. Pretty useful for filling in the space around the seat post. I'll drop by B&Q after work.
monkeyseemonkeydo
The other option would be to get a Pivotal seat and post and use a wedge-bodge to do away with the need for a clamp.

I quite like the look of the gusset ones though, they're pretty clean looking. I was thinking about using a proper seat shim like this plus a bit of beer can as a fine shim to wedge it in. I wasnt sure how tight I would be able get it though, dont know if anyone else has tried this? Edited December 16, 2010 by saunders
Mark W
My original Pivotal post was pretty tight in the frame and it held it in place perfectly. Battered it directly on the seat a few times and it didn't care. Didn't slip once or anything. This frame's slightly looser around the post, but most of that was filled in and it's nice and tight in there. If you get the correctly sized shim it should be pretty much fine.
