indianatrials
Im using 18-14 right now but somethings telling me that this is a little high? Would it be worth getting a 15 tooth rear sprocket?
Little Yoshi
I was riding 18-13. Seemed fine for me. Wat do you find the probllem is?
MiuSliS
Errrm, do you realise going 18/15 will make it even lighter? Edited December 13, 2010 by MiuSliS

craigjames
Seriously?! What length cranks do you run? I'm running 18:14 with 175mm cranks and it feels really light, too light; was considering running a 19t sprocket up front. I imagine a 18:15 set up would feel stupidly light. Luke Rainbird
18:15 is a pretty 'standard' ratio for a 26" bike so on smaller wheels it'll feel silly light, however if you're finding that 18:14 is too heavy then give it a shot. Really you should just man the funk up though...
AJ9604
i'm running 20:16 on my inspired and that seems ok at the minute although i am considering making it 17t on the rear
Skoze
Can't imagine ever running 18:15 on a 24 I had that on my Pitbull + 660, even then with bigger wheels it felt too light for me. Running 20:15 on the 609 atm, was 20:14 when i got it which actually felt pretty nice. I suppose i'm more used to something heavy after pissing about on a bmx for a few months, though... monkeyseemonkeydo
18:14 always felt about right when I was doing comps although that was with 160mm cranks. I'd say 18:15 will be too light since, as has been said, that's fairly standard 26" ratio.
Luke Dunstan
18:14 seems perfect for me, ran 18:13 before and it seemed way too low. and I'd imagine that 15:18 would feel really light. You can try 18:13, but I think you'd regret it.

You can try 18:13, but I think you'd regret it. For a streety, spinny trials bike 18:13 is perfect, but I find 18:14 on a trialsy 24" (175mm cranks) really light compared to a 26" running 18:15 (175mm cranks) or a mod running 18:12 (165mm cranks). 3dd
I had a because frame last year with 170mm cranks and 18:14 ratio and that felt like my stock with 18:15, perfect!
Revolver
I believe mine is 18:14, but I can't remember.
AJ9604
am i right in thinking if i drop my gearing from 20-16 to 16-12 on my 24" it will feel the same, i was thinking of going 16-13 as it feels a tad heavy atm do you think that will be too light?, i am running 170mm cranks
Mark W
20 / 16 * 12 = 15, so it may be best to go 16:13 if you want it a little lighter. I had a go on Ben Savage's 24" trials bike at Porthcawl a while back and I think he was running 18:15 with 165mm cranks. Whatever it was, it felt reasonably good. 18:14 should be about right with 'normal' length cranks though.
Matthew62
I ride 18:13 on my 24" and i think it's too light. This is on 170mm cranks.
jwcw
My 24" is running 18-14 but i just ordered a 12t back sprocket.

Miles Mallinson
Riding 18-14 on 175mm cranks I think on my ashton, thinking about changing it to 18-13 for a bit more speed but I like 14t for grabby rocks and really slow wheelies. I think it depends on what your ridng if its palettes, streety stuff 13t is good but for natural riding 14t is nice.
