Luke Dunstan
There are a few techniques, but to be honest it's all about practice, and lot's of it.

markmac25
Hi i am new to trials too but the way i am practising my balance is by resting my front wheel on a kerb or wall, then pulling away and trying to keep balance, this seems to be helping me,?? hope this helps Cheers Markmac
casualjoe
OK, get on your bike and find a wall, ride straight into the wall as slowly as you can and stop just as your front wheel touches the wall with the handlebars nice and straight. With a tiny bit of weight on your forward foot you should be able to balance quite comfortably against the wall to get a feel for the perfect balance point. guy13
Breath, breath, breath. When ever i am struggling to balance it is generally because i end up holding my breath. the same applies with power. if i cant get enough height on something not holding my breath really helps. i had to learn to do this by breathing really loud, so practice at home first!!!!!!

This, one generally follows the other, but when you're tense/holding your breath you'll make jerky uncontrolled movements which certainly wont help you to balance. Try and get hold of a copy of tricks and stunts, it's got some really good tips.
Manus-Rider
The three main things are determination, practice and remember TO HAVE FUN. I would say that doing trackstands on a thin plank of wood will be very use full! Hope this helps Charlie
wip-bikes
OK, get on your bike and find a wall, ride straight into the wall as slowly as you can and stop just as your front wheel touches the wall with the handlebars nice and straight. With a tiny bit of weight on your forward foot you should be able to balance quite comfortably against the wall to get a feel for the perfect balance point. If you cant find a wall, do it on a hill (facing uphill) and use your lead foot to control your movement and little breaking It helped me all back in the day when bikes had seats Hope this helps. Jon Alty
Power comes from your core on hops, not from your arms, if that helps
