Maladie
Hi there, i'm gonna' be spending some of my christmas dollar on a new brake for my Onza Pro. Which of these is the best value for money? Obviously the SL is going to perform better, but is it worth the extra money? Oh, and i'm gonna' be running the brake on a standard Onza double wall rim(smooth), so will the Echo brakes even work well on this rim? Cheers, James
SamKidney
the brakes work brilliantly as to how they feel, but it all depends on what pads you buy. I think rockman greens are the best ive used on a smooth rim, but your best off getting a grind and having some tnns a medium grind will also allow your brake to work in the wet, and for this id again recommend tnn lgms. Water and a smooth rim is never going to work Edited December 9, 2010 by Echo Lite

Or if Heatsink yellows fit these brakes i was gonna' give them a try too? Thankyou, Edited December 9, 2010 by Horndean Trials

SamKidney
also how wide is your rim? The clamping region on echo slaves are smaller as they are designed to run on wide rims, 42mm +. If you run a 38mm width rim which i think the stock rim is on the onza pro, then you would need tensile offset mounts to allow the slaves to be close enough to the rim for good pad contact. EDIT: little tip on the echo pads-work even better on a light grind. Edited December 9, 2010 by Echo Lite
