Franksx2005
Im interested in who out of the current regular users do comps. I recently done my first comp and really enjoyed it, to me it sort of gives trials a meaning. State your opinions below please.
Rob.
I have been doing comps for the past year and half and find them really fun. Its great to meet new people and everyone gets along fine and its a calm atmosphere.
JD™
There wasn't really an option for my situation, which is that I used to compete, enjoyed it, but don't any more. The main reason is laziness, and also because I'm not fussed about how good I am compared to other people anymore. EDIT: For that reason I put the 'I do comps sometimes' option, because 'didn't enjoy it' just wasn't true. I dont see it as 'how good i am compared to other people' i see it as to more to push myself to get better. Maybe when i get to a higher level my perspective will change. N.Wood
Have done about 5, a few have been really good and a few have been pretty shit. The pretty shit ones generally were because either i was riding shit, or the sections wern't what I prefer to ride. Most enjoyable was probably the Kortrijk comp in Belgium Kenny Belaey put on, was much more of a UCI style European set up with big rocks and nicer lines rather than shitty muddy wet mossy rocks you have to wheelswap everywhere like you get in some of the regional comp series. Ali C
I am the same as JD, did comps, enjoyed them but don't really compete any more. I did compete for 12 years, I really enjoyed them, got some good results, did the world rounds so got to travel too. More recently I have been enjoying just riding and trying new things, comps got a little samey after so long doing them and it was a tad expensive, now I get payed to ride and have great fun trying all new things. I am not ruling out doing comps again, but I really don't like the new generation of comp type frames with super high bbs and mega long reach, if I do compete again my bike will have a seat and it will be just for fun rather than to win. eskimo
I want to do them. But i'm never about for them, or it seems allot of hassle. I'd rather just turn up and play.
totaltrials
Sometimes I take spare forks, and a chain. Always take spare tubes though. These are the main parts I take. Edited December 6, 2010 by totaltrials
Luke Dunstan
I'm too competitive, and I find riding relaxing. If I started riding comps, I think it'd probably ruin trials for me.
dannytrialskid
Frank I love competitions. You looked real comfortable on your Speedrace at EBTC Barrow Farm. Keep to it Edited December 6, 2010 by dannytrialskid

dannytrialskid
Did hampshires but theyve just stopped. Hoping to do some more next year though Do the Crowthorne-CT ones if you can get to them. Here is the website. CROWTHORNE WEBSITE I will update the website with the dates and venues soon. All dates have been set, just sorting out what venues are going to what date. I'm sure there will be a topic that Richard is going to make when it's done! EnnBee
I do every comp i can. I even help to run them. For me comps is what trials is all about. I mean its a great safe hassle free place to ride and meet new people. Job done. Plus its not all as serious as you think. Most of the time i just mess about. CalopS
I did my first year of Tyke Trial comps this year. There great fun and I feel like they improve my riding because they challenge you with lines you would never think of doing. Hoping to do more Nationals next year! Franksx2005
Im really surprised with the results so far. I had the impression from the board that not many people were interested in it. The results show other wise. From the one comp i have attended so far ive found it a great place to meet new riders of all levels. Its also a great place to watch and learn new styles and It pushes you to improve. All in all i think its a great place, and im pleasantly surprised with how many peeps are involved. cant wait to meet a few more of you. SamKidney
i should hopefully start ridin in the new season I love riding natural, but dont see why to ride super light, weak bikes. I ride on my zoo python using lighter parts and rides amazing while being tough enough to take tgs and a good bashing, but rides brilliant on comp lines.. So much so my mates built one to the same spec, selling his hydroxx to fund it and should be riding next year on one in comps. As will I
Phatmike
I always enjoy comps as I tend to hang around with people that also go for fun and to socialise. It makes a nice change having sections laid out to ride, rather than being free to ride anything - it pushes you to do lines you wouldn't normally and really expands your skillset. I'm naturally competitive and always try to ride to the best of my abilities when there, but I always put enjoying the event before letting any negative, over-competitive mindsets get in the way! Doing MAD demos has meant that I've missed a lot of events I'd have otherwise attended over the last couple of years, but I've gotta earn a living. Doing shows has been just as much fun as comps, but both mean you get to travel around and meet people. I'll definitely be making more of an effort to attend more next year and will be sponsoring as many events as we can afford!
