Ross McArthur
I was sent this and found it quite interesting. Pedals
forteh
Doesnt lower the BB at all, just moves your contact point closer to the pedal axle. IMHO I would rather have a more concave pedal body (eg: welgo mg1) that my foot sits into, than a raised boss across the centre of the pedal where the axle is; more shoe rubber on the pedal body the better the grip. Matt Vandart
That doesn't lower your bb, they are talking shite, it just does the above. It lowers your position on the bike by 1/4 inch effectively raising your bb relative to your body. What a load of shite. If it's designed for down hill then surely a way to lower your bb would to decrease the preload. Pretty slick looking pedals though.
totaltrials
A thinner pedal will increase your efficiency to hop/grip though. So the pedals being thin is a good thing. The whole lowering your BB thing is bull.
Gibbon on an Orange 2
If it's designed for down hill then surely a way to lower your bb would to decrease the preload. That'll drop the whole bike, reduce your clearence and slacken your head angle (unless you reduce the PL on the forks too) and then you end up with a slack, sluggish bike that'll constantly bottom out. Their theory is nice, slimmer pedals = better clearence (the number of times i've been had off by the pedal just hanging up on a stump or a rock...) but I can't see it having any benifit on a trials bike other than maybe shedding a bit of weight. Joshtp
On a "proper" bike thinner pedals have myriad benefits, better ground clearance, more efficiency, your body is lower when standing on level cranks, so more stability (so in that way, it does feel a little like your on a lower BB) on a Trials bike I cant see all that much point though.... those "crampons" are horrible anyway... Superstar Nano Flats are the way IMHO.
Skorp
Altough, it will feel as you have a lower bb? As you are 8mm closer to the ground, compared to a normal pedal..
LEON
And then the bb is above both feet, similar to having badly bent cranks, nice lol.
