Sam T
What size is best for bite and hold? Personally, i'd run 160's front and rear. Some people upgrade to 180's if they want more power out of it. Never heard of someone running anything bigger than a 180 on the rear. LukasMcNeal
Massively depends on bike and brake! People usually run 160mm on mods and 180/203mm on stocks, but a few run 203mm on mods! Also a 160mm hope will generally be alot more powerful than a BB7 etc.
Sponge
BB7s are more aggressive in terms of bite and hold but lack modulation and feel of smoothness that a Hope hydro has. Just a tradeoff

Just a tradeoff Would a 203mm bb7 be any good on the front of my mod? I am going to get a 203mm bb7 so would I be able be able to put a smaller rotor on it? And you can change the adaptor to make it take a smaller disc but it's probably better to stick with the 203mm less messing about!

Just let them bed in properly and of course make sure the pads are aligned completely parallel and not at an angle! 203mm BB7'd probably rip your disc mount and spokes in the long run on a mod? Mark W
Ran a 203 BB7 on my mod for ages back in the day. No problems with forks or wheel. Ended up going to a 160 - better modulation and less weight = bueno. 160mm Hope Mono Trial rotors seem the best in terms of bite/hold. Feel as much like a HS33 as it's possible to for a disc brake
davey1991
I ran a 203mm BB5 then BB7 on a mod, the BB5 felt fine with the 203 plenty of modulation, great bite and enough hold for a front brake, but the BB7 was like touching a big red nuke button! Worked amazingly but no modulation, on or off, bite was so feirce i got alot of on my face action and the hold was great, so yes, good setup.
