liam n
how do i fit the echo sl 108 freewheel without a freewheel tool or do i need one ? i was thinking it would be fine if free wheel was tight as possible without tool as the freewheel tightens when the bike is ridden ? Miles Mallinson
With some grease again, you don't need a tool to put it on but make sure you get one just incase you need to service it, just screw it on by hand as tight as you can then ride up a hill a few times or something like that. Sponge
Just make sure to apply plenty of copper antiseize grease on the threads of both the crankarm and the freewheel.
Kieran Morrison
Yea, apply grease to threads, screw it on, once its on hold both brakes then stamp down on the crank so the bike doesnt move, should tighten it enough
PeanuckleJive
Don't forget to grease the threads, just in case you didn't catch it the first, second or third time round...

Grease it if you've got grease to hand, but if not, dont bother. Havent greased any of my freewheels whilst ive been riding and have never had any problems with either maintaining the freewheel/cranks or removal of the freewheel. Cheers, Josh. I'd say it was worth getting grease to help put it on. It makes getting them off a lot easier, and if the threads on your cranks aren't great it sort of gives them a helping hand in not deciding to fly off... Ben John - Hynes
Not sure why nobody's said this yet, but make sure you grease the threads.

Ben John - Hynes
What about oil guys? Wouldn't really use oil. Get grease if you can. Oil, possibly as a last resort though. Dude, what is up with your DP?! Sorry, off topic, but LOL! Haha, one of my mates said it looks like me, so I Avatar'd it!
