0zzy
getting two new stock tyres as mine are going bald, i want light weight and grippy, im not too bothered on pinch protection as im not a basher. i was thinking of both of the michelin tyres on tarty bikes as they seem light, any one got any reviews? http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=11284&category_id=33 http://tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=11283&category_id=33 or any other combinations of tyres? ive got around 80 quid to spend overall. x
EchoSam
I run a Try-All Stiky front and 2.35 Maxxis Minion Dual Ply rear. Not the lightest set up but they feel nice.
Krisboats
The continental black chilli tyres are VERY grippy. Really astounding how much different they are to every other tyre i've used. I'd go for conti mountain king supersonic up front £30-35 and then a conti trials rear tyre. Should be able to get both for within your budget if you look on ebay for the front one or something.
Sponge
These days everyone recommends the Der Kaiser, if it fits your frame!
Luke Rainbird
I'll second the vote for a Mountain King Supersonic up front, absolutely loving mine I'm running a Der Kaiser on the rear too which is phenomenal, but carries a bit of a weight penalty which you're looking to avoid so may not be ideal so I'll let other people throw in their votes too. The Conti Trial King seems to be a pretty good compromise between a light tyre and one that grips like anything though.
matt.price
sorry to hijack your thread a bit ozzy but .. does anyone know the smallest tyre like upwards from the rim ( not the width ) because my kenda has to be right far back to fit the chain and not rub against the frame cheers
Luke Rainbird
Tarty list the dimensions of the profile of every tyre they sell - check them out
Matt Vandart
Mountain king super doopa sonic on front and conti der kaiser minge bag on the rear. Or Try all front ac back with the new try all light jobbie on the rear. But if ye cant afford that then those michelin ones are pretty good I rekon. Greetings
Tartybikes is pretty much the only place in the world which stocks and knows anything about the Trial King/Queen tyres right? There is NO info about them in the official Continental dealer's catalogue for 2011, nor do Continental dealers know anything about this tyre. I came out of a meeting with the Conti wholesaler looking like an idiot when I told them that I'd be interested in these tyres. They had no idea what I was talking about. Weird. PaRtZ
the try alls are good for the front if theyre light enough for you (and cheap enough) As said the continentals are nice and grippy for the rear but thinner than the tried and tested minion dual ply....
