PeterWest
Hi All I was wondering if you all could help me out here, I really want to start taking my trials riding more seriously. I want to buy a bike but I am a student so as you can imagine the budget is low ( very low ). I have three options This: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=48600 or this: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=48604 or unless someone has a cheap bike that they are willing to ship to South Africa Could someone please say which one they would take and why. Thanks in advance Peter
krazykid009
Neither of those are trials bikes. Try looking here under bike section. The onza mods are a good place to start. James
PeterWest
Cool thanks, which wheel size would be best for a beginner like me ?
krazykid009
20" if you're completely new to the sport - more stable and slightly easier to learn on. 26" if you come from a mountain biking or moto trials background - more similar to what you are used to. Saying that it is personal preference. See if you can find some local riders who are willing to let you ride theirs. Hope I helped James
PeterWest
Thanks I have done some normal MTB for a while and started getting bored, also did downhill for a while, anyway just one more thing, is it easy enough to change from V brakes to disc's? krazykid009
As long as the frame and forks have mounts for it then it's fine. I would suggest looking into a magura HS33 for the back though. If it was me I would buy the onza Bird and then put Maguras on the back using the EVO mounts. Tis' what I'm doing when I get mine on Sunday. James
PeterWest
Ok Guys , I have been looking around on Tarty Bikes ( thanks for the link ), I was thinking about this combination http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=10877&category_id=14 together with this http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=10547&category_id=502 Think it is a good combination? Martyn
I don't think you can go far wrong with that combo, it's alot of cash though! I'm sure alot of the regular forum guys will recommend you keep an eye out in the for sale section or pop up a wanted advert once you're validated. PeterWest
you, I contacted Tarty bike and there are no more bike kits available any more, So I have spoke with my father and i will most probably get either the Onza Cleaner or the Onza Hitman, I want to get the Cleaner because if the better brakes, but I hate the colour, but on the other hand i like the colour of the Hitman but the components aren't as good. Your opinion?

Your opinion? The better braked one, you really do need good brakes for trials. Saying that, you could get a decent mod or maybe stock of here when you are validated for that pice (second hand, obviously.)

PeterWest
Thanks for the replys guys, I was looking around on this forum for second hand deals, but I thought as much as with the posting issue. KM, I was thinking the same about the brake, rather me get the bike with the brake than me have to buy them and install them later. Just a quick question, can I have the frame sprayed over? ogre
spraying the frame should be a problem, also don't be in the belief that vee brakes are no good for trials, i've been using one for over a year on the rear, after 5 years of riding it's easily the best brake i've ever used, and i've tried all the best magura pads and set ups. also theres this super bargain if they'll ship to south africa.
