T.McMillan
Does anyone know what happened to the 74 Kingz brand? If they were still available would you buy that type of tensioner? I wanted to do a poll but the topic poll didnt work, if it works soon ill set one up. Luke Rainbird
With more and more frames coming out with either horizontal dropouts or inbuilt tensioning systems, it seems like the potential market for them is shrinking. That said, there are still plenty of vertical dropout frames out there and the 74Kingz tensioners were, as far as I'm concerned, the best solution to the problem. Well, provided you didn't need to take up miles of chain slack, in which case you throw on a Rohloff which I never rated so much. 74Kingz, half a 6" steel rule for a spring, done. Matt Vandart
I f**kin hated mine, double wheel jobbie works much better, but they were lighter.
Ben John - Hynes
a Rohloff which I never rated so much. Oh my god, blasphemy of the highest order! EDIT: Irony? lol Edited November 25, 2010 by Ben John - Hynes
Revelation
Best tenssioner on the market right now. http://labs.yesspro.com/collections/vendors?q=Yess
craigjames
74 Kingz tensioners are awesome, the original spring weren't amazing, but once that was changed they were spot on. I've still got one
Luke Rainbird
Oh my god, blasphemy of the highest order! EDIT: Irony? lol Nah, whenever I've run a 74kingz it's been perfect. No trouble, fit and forget, out the way and lightweight. Rohloff's on the other hand make it that little bit more awkward to fit/remove wheels, change chains, etc. They're a great product, but I'd take the kingz every time

chimpanzyyyy
hated mine was pretty much impossible to keep it in place, was sliping and losing tension every 20 minutes I think it depends on the hub u use I used a dmr hub and it was ok I then switched to echo hug and it became sooooo lame I think spoke tensionier can work better than that. LordMersey
When it worked it was grand, but for me that was a very small margin of the time.
Skorp
LOVE them! have tried the trialtech with two pulleys and thr trialtech with a roller, have tried spokes and Echo SL tensioners aswell. Trialtech with pulleys: Suuuper tension, its in the way if you want to remove the wheel, It can take a beating, but it dents your frame if you land on it. Trialtech with roller: Good tension, its in the way if you want to remove the wheel, if you hit it it will bend and the ride is over... Spokes: Good, hard to manufacture, chain can fall of if riding rough with some speed Echo SL: Did not work at all. Not enough tension on the spring 74Kingz: Crappy original spring. i have made a spring out of hacksaw blades. just works, and its easy to take of the wheel when you puncture. So i have bought 2 extra 74kingz tensioners just to have in the future!
