Matt Vandart
I have been thinking o putting a 24" wheel on the back of my bike for some reason. I think I am having a funny moment. What do you think of this strange idea.
Revolver
It makes your front wheel feel massive.
bikeperson45
I think you're being a bit of a silly sausage.
Luke Rainbird
You still see the odd street/dirt rider running a 24/26 setup, give it a go (if you're running brakeless/rear disc, like the Ashton?)
Matt Vandart
It makes your front wheel feel massive. lol, you have done it? Was it a weird moment too? I spose it would slacken my head angle and raise the bb a bit, did this occur?
Revolver
I was running this setup on my jump bike for ages. The front wheel felt ridiculous, it's similar to how a stock feels in general... but with it just on the front wheel it's worse.
chimpanzyyyy
i va done it ages ago just hated it with passion
Savage
Iv done it... felt ok, had the control of a 24" on the back and the bashing power of the 26" on the front...
sstein
It's been done on the odd big hit MTB as a way of giving more clearance for both mud and to allow the wheel to come up further. Apart from that I can really see no point in it, It would make spins easier but then again so would runnign both wheels 24 and that does not feel/look gay. Having a 26 inch front wheel and 24 inch rear is not really going to benefit you for trials, it comes more to the geometry of the bike and the way you ride. If you cant handle both wheels 26" go to 24 on both, or even mod. Why Mix and Match!?
Mark W
lol, you have done it? Was it a weird moment too? I spose it would slacken my head angle and raise the bb a bit, did this occur? It'd drop the BB. If you want your bike to feel slower and more sluggish it might be worth a go
PaRtZ
go the whole hog and put a 20" on the back.... I recall an incarnation of the specialised big hit have a 24" rear and 26" front? I remember a local in NW rode 24" rear 26" front, he was pretty good
Alex Dark
It'd drop the BB. But effectively give you more Bb rise, eg by increasing the angle the chainstay makes with the ground.
Matt Vandart
But effectively give you more Bb rise, eg by increasing the angle the chainstay makes with the ground. And slaken the head angle. anyway I have gone off the idea because my Der kaiser is just too good.
Gibbon on an Orange 2
I recall an incarnation of the specialised big hit have a 24" rear and 26" front? It was the original incarnation of the Big Hit. To be honest it felt awesome. It felt so nimble, but getting good rims/tyres for it at the time was a pain. Goldtec made a rear end for it to convert it to 26/26 with an extra inch of rear travel, it was great for straight lining stuff but totally killed the handling.
