The Gaming Thread......

I've read up about it and watched videos, and still don't see the appeal. Basically you sink many, many hours of time into it, and at the end you've got a character with fewer possessions and skills than you have in real life.

Don't knock it until you've tried it.

PC magazine put a demo out, multiplayer is definitely where it shines, but you can definitely get down in single player.

The sinking hours into it thing can be applied to pretty much any game, my mate's made £30 after people paid him to give them a shit ton of 'decent items', he just got a list of what they wanted, made up a price, got their details + saves, went into his modded .jar, used TooManyItems to get all the stuff they wanted in about 10 clicks, and then give them back their saves with a load of diamonds, gold, etc. Made about £30 for literally 10 minutes work, I'm fair tempted to do it myself but it's such little effort I almost feel bad.

I've got Terraria as well, but I'm getting bored with having gotten no decent items for ages and networking problems.

Dirt 3 = pure win

Really? I'm really struggling to get into it. The first one was great but this one seems very dumbed down, to the point where the game explains the options on the main menu and won't let you skip the explanation. Are people really that stupid they can't work out what the writing is anymore?

Still didn't get Minecraft, was bored, got the demo, now I understand Minecraft. It's like brakeless trials, it's shit on paper but oh so amazing in practice.

My plan is to dig a huge mine, and on top of it, a castle. :)

Might look into place it online soon. Might even pay for it. Any of you guys play it much? Pity it isn't on Steam.

I've never played it online. I've heard it's meant to be awesome though.

I can imagine. I want help building my castle, it's taking forever.

I found one incredibly gay thing. I went for a sleep in my bed, when I woke up a zombie was next to me and killed me before I could get my sword out, now I'm stuck outside at night with no weapons, and it's too dark to see anything so I can't find my way back. Saved it, will sort it later. :P

It was polite of him to wait until you woke up.

Crysis and Crysis Warhead are a must IMO. I just got Crysis 2, undecided as to whether I would recommend. It's good, but the gameplay is not for me. Has this rediculously annoying lag that modern FPS games seem to have on the mouse movements to smooth them out. That and the way the guy moves makes me feel like I'm playing underwater. It's like BFBC2, but worse.

Also, everyone raved about the amazing graphics, couldn't be more "Meh" to me. I was impressed in Crysis with being able to see hundreds of trees several miles away, but in Crysis 2 everything feels way too close for my liking.

It's just all very "Consoleish", but I guess that's the point.

Got Warhead, got a little bored of it quite quick, haven't even bothered reinstalling it since I wiped my drive. Didn't like Crysis 2 that much when I played a bit on console either.

Last game I properly enjoyed was Fallout 3*, I loved the combination of FPS and RPG elements, so something along those lines. I also love the sort of mage/warrior/ranger type RPGs, but never got properly into them so don't know which are good and which aren't.

*tried New Vegas and didn't like it
