Well it is a beta, it's bound to have bugs, I reckon it's a really clever idea. Release it in beta, everyone rushes to get hold of it, and they get several thousand people testing it and reporting loads of issues with it for free. Given that testing normally costs a fortune, I reckon it's a good plan. :P

It's a good idea, but when there are loads of issues when the game is out in about a month the bad rep from Beta players must damage sales?

A game this big, as you say does need thousands of peoples feedback to get things right though.

It does have massive potential, but obviously PC gamers are going to get the most from this game by far.

according to people on a couple of pc forums, that have managed to access the caspian border map, they're saying it couldnt be more different to the metro map that most people are playing, apparently the differences are astounding (Scope, playing style, visual effects etc) and that its just a way better experience.

also arent the xbox and ps3 limited to 24 man servers and not 64, which will make a huge difference(on pc, i hated anything other than a 32 man server, taking 30 and 28 as absolute minimum, otherwise the maps either felt too small, or too empty)

as for issues, think of all the call of duty issues, glitches, etc and this game has got a lot more new stuff in it (bearing in mind asfaik, the engine has stayed largely the sam since cod4, but world at war, mw2 etc still had loadsa glitches for ages after they came out, whereas this is a new game engine, granted theyve done the destroyable scenery before, but the possibilities for different destructions are so large, there is of course holes to be patched out.

I think by mid november, bf3, on pc at least, will be friggin awesome.

Can just ignore rush stuff really, BF is all about conquest and massive maps with lots of people. Caspian is ace btw (Y) although lots of people hanging around uncap for aircraft as always.

Quite a bit of caspian footage about allready, even TotalBiscuit has done some.

in BC2, i always thought rush had a place, on the bigger maps, is amazing the way you could change a game, by playing as an assault, with an all kits gun (i was a saiga + magnum ammo kinda guy myself)and c4, you played smart, you could remove enemy vehicles, take down building round the m comms so people couldnt arm them, if attacking, you could go for the proper jew tactics of getting into the building with the m comm, throwing an ammo box in the corner, throwing all your c4 at the m comm, reloading yourself, doing it like 3 or 4 times, then just blowing the thing

was just way more tactical than the kinda play COD could offer. ill be honest, im going to get the beta at somepoint, and give it a whirl(played it on a ps3 last night, but i hate console FPS'ing) but not going to put any real time into playing it till the 25th of october when i get the full game.

My dad as just ordered an insanely specced pc and i perhaps fancy trying a few games out on it, I'm a bit out of the loop on pc stuff so is there anything out there particularly worth noting?

Some online type of game would interest me, a first person shooter or something like that :)

If you haven't played Half Life and Half Life 2 they are must haves, the first one will look very dated, but don't let it put you off. The second might look a little dated too, but I'm not sure, on a monster rig it'll still look amazing. Online wise try Counter Strike Source, same engine as Half Life 2 so might not look amazing compared to Crysis 2 or whatever.

COD and BF have ruined the whole online FPS scene I feel, I remember shit like Natural Selection and The Specialists. They were so much better than all out army shite.

Get Crysis and get the Maximum Immersion mod. Watch your PC weep.

Bored out of my mind, can't find any game I'd want to play.

Recommendations? Not a huge fan of FPS unless they have a good plot like DX or ME. Not a fan of racing simulators either (only got a keyboard). Really liked Portal although it was very short. Is Portal 2 worth getting? Any good strategy/economy games out there like the Anno series? Been looking through Steam and can't seem to find anything :(
