Pauly
Ok so , basically i have more or less had a chris king in my life for the past god knows how many years. don’t get me wrong it has never held me back and has always engaged when i smash my pedals down , however it has skipped on me on a few occasions when i have put light pressure when hopping ect. so I have been looking at other options to the king , I’m now 13.5 stone so I am not a light rider , people who know me will tell you I’m not the smoothest out there and like to throw myself off stuff I wouldn’t want something skipping/breaking on me, so I’m after something that is strong , plenty of engagements, and reliable, I appreciate the fact that maintenance will have to be done to whatever i buy but keeping things simple is preferred , i.e. servicing of a king the price is not a issue i just want what works. Pro2 , when i first brought the chris king the thing that attracted me at first was the 72 clicks, now how would people compare going from a 72 click hub to a pro2 (46 i think ) did you find any difference when gapping or in any move in general really just waiting for it to engage ? from what i have read they seem pretty concrete on the skipping front, however i did see in the past completely split apart hubs, what’s the deal with that ? i heard that they were revised ? Front freewheels Now back in the day i remember the white industries being all the talk, but from a quick glance on the net there is now alot more options so what is the front on these? what seems to be the most popular, strongest and reliable nower days?, now i am not to keen on the look of the 108 click freewheels as I remember vincent hermance snapping try all free wheel in to bits on a video somewhere, however I’m sure this was when they were in the design stages ? Any help/info would be much appreciated . Many thanks Paul
Bigman
Hey Pauly!! I made the switch from a Chris King too an Echo SL front freewheel and I have been VERY impressed with it, deffinately a viable option instead of a king! adamthompson
Definatly sl mate had mine for about 6 months and it's never skipped once!
bikeperson45
I'm just going back to using my Pro 2 actually, coincidence. I've been using a King since February and like you said, was fine when stomping on the pedals but doing littler things skipped a few times. I just personally prefer Pro 2s, make a nicer noise anyway. And mine's in a really cool blue
Franksx2005
I was using an sl on my mod with no problems at all, lots of engagements and mega strong. Ive just bought a stock which has a pro 2, it does the job and everything, but i much prefere the sl, and will be changing back very very soon. J Harris
I made the switch from a Chris King too an Echo SL front freewheel and I have been VERY impressed with it, deffinately a viable option instead of a king! exactly the same, im loving my SL atm, only concern i have is that paul seddon has gone through two of them in the past year... but there not as expensive as buying some king parts. ill let you have a blast on mine next time i see you pauly

Greetings
From personal experience I'd recommend getting a used King which you KNOW has been reliable. The new hubs are rubbish unfortunately.
