krazykid009
Hey all, big dilemma on my hands. I have a HS33, the 2005+ model bled with a water and antifreeze mix. I have just re-bled it after the lever blade started to be loose as in its not coming into contact with the piston in the body. For some reason it is still doing it. Whenever I pull the lever, it will pull with more resistance than normal. and when I release it, the pads stay out, and the blade is loose. I have tested the parts individually by forcing water through them and they all seem fine apart from the piston in the lever body. Any ideas as to what is the problem and what can be done to rectify it. I have done a quick search but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks James
rab shropshire
I have had a problem similar to this before, i sorted it by removing the piston from the lever body and sanding it down a tiny amount each time and refitting it until it was spot on
Dan6061
Yeah, just sounds like the pistons getting stuck! Not sure how you get the pistons out the 05 levers, I've only ever had 04s! But pop it out if you can, give it a proper clean up and oil it, then carefully sand down the bore in the lever body with some very fine sandpaper, refit and try. Just pop the lever together and pull it a few times, shouldn't have to bleed it every time you test it!

trials owns
Souns good guys. How do you remove the piston? Thanks James lever blade of, undo the screw above the hosing entrance to the lever and poke something like a spoke through the hole and should pop out, may be abit stiff but will come out. EDIT well that was for hs11 in guessing its the same with hs33 never taken one apart before, yeah i also had this problem, i sanded it down a little and then covered it in silicone crease, worked fine for like 1 mouth then the piston leaked. l33th3tr33
It was said in a post above, sand the bore, aka the lever body where the piston sits.

rab shropshire
i sanded the piston as if it goes tits up it is alot cheaper to replace the piston than replace the lever body
krazykid009
Thanks all. I sanded down the piston last night and put it back on the bike this morning and it works better than before. Thanks James
Nick Manning
I've been having the same problem across a few of my Magura's, I bought some sand paper and have tried sanding down the piston, that didn't improve anything, I've tried the bore and that's made no difference. I put some wet lube around the piston to see if that helped, nope. I've even rebled the brake with mineral oil and still nothing. Anyone got any suggestions short of buying new brakes? Azarathal
I've heard it's caused by being too demo Nick.
