Azarathal
Guess its waiting until my mum gets up for work, waking her up would be suicide. Also, is your trials club actually in Crowthorne?
Azarathal
Spraying GT-85 in there last night disloged something and now my freewheel might aswell be a sprocket, I also can't get the lockring off so it looks like I'm going to have to buy the tool
CC12345678910
I never knew there was a proper tool for the job (a piccy would be nice, I'm curious) I used a pair of circlip pliers of my 96, putting the prongs in the two holes with a good ol' amount of downward pressure and twisted the lockring. hope this helps. RossMcd
have you tried turning it the other way? I know tensile freewheels have reverse threads to stop them coming slack mid ride.
Azarathal
I was told by multiple people - Including TartyStan that they have standard threads. I'll try it reverse just to check, if that doesn't work I'll head into work and borrow the vice + an old seat tube for leverage. Thanks guys. Mark W
have you tried turning it the other way? I know tensile freewheels have reverse threads to stop them coming slack mid ride. Tensiles are the only freewheel to have regular threads. All the others are opposite.
Julius Czar
I used anything thin like a nail and a hammer. Just keep at it, it should come loose after a while.
Azarathal
I got it open, for a freewheel that was locked solid there's nothing wrong with it A few pawls are worn down and I might replace them soon but for now its alright. Thanks everyone.
