it's better in the same way that you can go faster in an F1 car, but you will be a better driver if you learn on something slower and heavier and really understand how racing lines and correct gears effect things

I know what you mean there!! sorry to high jack the thread here, i see your riding with the clan now ali. good old scottish chaps eh. good luck with it all!!

I prefer stock, Mods feel too much like kids bikes to me

Ok its your opinon on what you prefer but i must say mods are a hell of a lot lighter becuse. my mod weighed 21.87 lbs my mates 26" weighed somthing like 24 to 25 lbs

but if your tall you proberly better off with the 26"

forgot to say it depends what stuff you have on your trials bike because i did have all the light weight stuff on like echo tryall but some people like there trial bikes heavy well i dont i like them as light as i can get it

can of worms there!! stocks can be just as lite as mods as i found out. my custom onza master mod with lite weight try-all hubs rims, trialtech stuff all over it all lite weight stuff still weighs more than my custom limey 3 build. i was shocked when i put them on the scales!!! It all depends on the buget you have IMO.

it's not always best to learn on super light equipment. Look at runners, they use heavier shoes and clothes when training, same with tennis and other sports. You will be a better rider if you learn on something heavier and if you learn how to swing a bigger stock around too, you'll learn even more.
