Mark W
Those pedals are shit. No grip and they snap pretty fast. Not exactly an ideal combo. My TR Platforms are about 8 months old now, if not more. I way, way prefer the shape of them to MG-1s (the concave on these just feels 'better', and I like the thin-ness of them too), and I've found them to be nice and grippy too. The only time they don't feel grippy is when my shoes wear out, but that's pretty natural to be fair. They also don't sound like you're kicking a dog any more if you spin them by hand, which is nice
Sponge
Fair enough, I'm just after a decent pair of plastics that grip well. I was hoping metal pins might help, but seems not? I am comparing these to Odyssey Twisted PCs though however. Otherwise I was thinking of these... Premium Slim PCs, which are pretty cheap ($26) and sealed... Maybe could power drill then studlock some shallow screws in once the plastic pins die.
Mark W
Animal Hamiltons are by far and away the best plastics out there that I've tried (Odyssey, Eclat, Seventies, etc.). Not tried those Premium ones. I don't really see the point of drilling/screwing stuff into them though. I can't really see the threads lasting long in the bodies, and if you want metal pins you might as well get metal pedals...
Sponge
I'm on a tight budget... and it's for a unicycle (err.. pogo stick), so just after something that won't scar indoor surfaces like metals do. Those Premiums are about 300g too for the pair, so for $26 and sealed it's not too shady? Anyway, yeah, for metal pedals I'd always have them on a bike. Echo TRs! haydon_peter
Wellgo MG1's I used to always use V12's (V8's have open bearings and are therefore shit, V12's are easily worth the extra money!) but the platform on the MG1's is larger, the pins are in better positions, they are thinner and for the weight weenies they are one of the lightest metal flat pedals on the market. All you people suggesting DMR V8 and V12 pedals seriously need to go out and try the Wellgo MG1's, you will never go back!

I have and I went back. I just like how rounded and comfy the DMRs are. Got the V12 Mag bodies second hand and I've been happy with them for about two years. All you people suggesting DMR V8 and V12 pedals seriously need to go out and try the Wellgo MG1's, you will never go back! This is true! Though from when I had a go on a friend's Echo TR platforms, those made Wellgo MG1s feel pretty awkward in an uncomfortable sense. As a general comment, I did a bit of 5 minute searching around on CRC and found that Wellgo do a lot of other pedal models in different shapes, sizes, prices, and weights. A lot of them not bad at all, as I'm guessing they are cheaper due to not going through a rebranding process that a lot of other brand's pedals are? Greetings
I'd recommend the TR platform pedals. Running SL's at the moment (they're identical) and they are by far the most comfortable pedals mainly due to their size and very low profile. Haven't tried the caged pedals yet, planning on doing so in the near future.

Dan6061
I've got the cheapo Trialtech platform pedals, and they're awesome! Pins have stayed in for a considerable amount of time. Grip well, haven't fallen apart. Can't complain...

Ben John - Hynes
DMR and Welgo arent the best in my opinion simple because of the weight. You can get ones of the same quality which are much lighter. Echo TR platform and caged are great. Light and relatively cheap too. Also, if your interested the come in like 10000000 different colours. DMR V8 pedals - 530g. £25 ish. Echo TR caged - 309g. £35 Echo TR platform - 358g. £45 But DMR arent trials specific whereas echo are a trials brand. DMR have been around for a hell of a lot longer than Echo, and therefore know the recipe for good parts. Hence why V8s are SO popular. Same with Wellgo, the MG1s that Nich mentioned 1st are magnesium, not far off the weight of the Echos and I know I'd trust them a massive amount more! V8s are so popular because they hit a good price point and are available in a billion colours. I was never really too happy with mine in so much as the bearings never really seemed to last all that long. To be honest, I wasn't really sure about the Echos when they first came in but thought I'd give them a go. I used to run MG-1s and found that the TR platform's shape was a lot better, they keep their pins in significantly more than MG-1s do (after a few weeks I'd lost at least one or two pins, whereas I haven't lost any in the entire time I've used my TRs because of their pin system), and the bearings/bushing seem to have lasted well. Kenny--Trials
Do the Echo TR Platforms actually snap easily or is that just a rumour because some fat Ba$%ard hates Echo? Mark W
Mine are 9 months old. I don't think we've had any back that have snapped the bodies, think there was 1-2 which had snapped axles. A pretty small number of returns considering the amount sold. Matt Burrows
Heavy and expensive, sounds great I really don't think you can beat MG1s on an all round balance of weight, durability, price and comfort. I've had my current set for over 2 years and they are still running great. You can pick them up off Ebay for £26 as well which is ridiculously cheap! Brettoll
Yeah but look at how they gleam in all their lovely colours and are less boring than black..... If you want low weight I do agree, MG1's are spot on the money, especially where the branded versions are double that.
