l33th3tr33
Just been on the hope website and seen the tech x2, just wondering what's it like for trials use (on the rear) if anyone has used one before? Comparing it to the mono trials, what's the bite, hold and modulation like?
Ali C
I wouldn't recommend one for trials. They are pretty poor on power and bite, but have plenty of modulation
Mark W
Tech lever on a Mono Trial caliper on the other hand...
craigjames
Wasn't the Tech X2 the replacement for the Mono Mini? As in a XC brake? Hope make a trials specific brake why would you try one of there others that are intended for other disciplines?
l33th3tr33
I wouldn't recommend one for trials. They are pretty poor on power and bite, but have plenty of modulation So, if it's not really the best brake...... Tech lever on a Mono Trial caliper on the other hand... Then why (on assumption that you're saying a tech lever on a mono trial caliper makes a beast of a brake) does the tech lever produce a better brake? Wasn't the Tech X2 the replacement for the Mono Mini? As in a XC brake? Hope make a trials specific brake why would you try one of there others that are intended for other disciplines? Just having a browse on the site and there's a 'meter' type thing on the side of the screen and half (off the top of my head) of the trials meter was full. So, just wondering if anyone has used one. Ali C
not the best brake for trials? or not the best brake all together? They are one of the best made brakes and up there with the best for trials, but the caliper piston is too small to produce the power needed for trials. The X2 lever has a lot of adjustment and doesn't develop any wobble, power is the same as a mini lever, but you can dial the feel more. Combined with a Mono Trials caliper gives plenty of power and good feel.
Mark W
What Ali said. It just makes the brake a lot more customisable in terms of feel and getting it work how you want, which is what I was after and why I bought one to run on the rear of my mod.
