toyota200x
Hello, I have edited videos in the past but this is my 1st time with Adobe Premiere 6.0. It is an older program but my friend has used with with good results. When I uploaded my clips off my DV camcorder they play just fine on my computer. When I drop them into the editing timeline the clip doesn't play smoothly and jumps around. I have tried de-interlacing it but it did nothing. I am not sure what could cause this issue. Here is an example. let me know what you think. Thanks!
AdamR28
Hmm, looks like the PC can't keep up with the rendering? I'd try shutting down everything else (apart from Premiere) and give that a blast, should free up some RAM...
Captain Scarlet
Yea generally I've only ever had it occur in the editing software itself, as my computer isn't greatly specced, but usually nothing shows in the render. I'd be inclined to go with Adams advice, what spec computer are you running?
toyota200x
Running XP with only 512mb of RAM. I will buy some RAM, hopefully smooths out the footage.
AdamR28
Are you capturing the footage using a Firewire cable from a DV tape? Could maybe try re-capturing the footage, or cleaning the heads in the camera.

Could maybe try re-capturing the footage, or cleaning the heads in the camera. I am able to upload with a USB cable. Never had a problem with this method and I have made a few vids. This is my first time editing with Premiere though. I can take the raw footage on my computer and play it no problem. Smooth as can be. As soon as I drop it in the editing timeline it gets all jumpy. Thanks for the help.
