krazykid009
Hey all. It's my birthday on the 28th, and I'm getting an onza bird 09 from my parents. Does anyone know if you can use snail cams with them. I don't trust chain tugs, they just don't seem strong enough to me. Thanks James

Mark W
No, you can't use snail cams, unless you drill holes EXACTLY where they are meant to be It doesn't really have to be exact - you can sort of work it out depending on where your wheel sits in your dropouts and which snail cams you want to buy. It is a bit of effort though, just in terms of drilling and tapping.
Dwarf Shortage
Slightly on topic, do you use axle bolts with snail cams? And you just use the snail cams as a guide to get your chain on a decent tightness?
Mark W
Pow! http://tartybikes.co.uk/media.php?group=guides&id=5 You use them to get your chain tension right, then tighten your axle bolts to get the wheel to stay there.
