George.E
Can anyone tell me what they use to hold their pads into their backings please? Just bought some heatsink backings so just wanting to find out really before I go doing something stupid
Dwarf Shortage
We use Cyanoacrylate glue, (Superglue) to help attach the pads into the aluminium backings. One of the many advantages of Aluminium backings over plastic backings is that it's possible to press a tightly fitting pad into the aluminium backing without the bowing that a plastic backing would experience. Many riders don't even bother with glue for our CNCed backings since the press fit can be so tight and secure. However, we'd recommend you use a Superglue from the Loctite range (unbranded "Superglues" can often have no strength at all). Even if the pad would hold tightly without the glue, wetting the pad and backing with a thin coating helps the two to slide cleanly together in the vice making it easy to get a perfectly flush finish. The glue shown in the packaging is a good choice. My local Supermarket sells it for about £3, and its built in brush makes it easy to apply glue without getting it every where. http://www.heatsinkb...om/?p=padsguide
