V Brake Arms

I'm new to v brakes so I don't have a clue what the preferred v arms are used for trials.

Ive had a few, shimano Deores are okay, but the tension screw gets hit off. Same thing with the Avid SD5, I would go for the SD7. Was by far the best brake I ever had, with heatsink Coust pads. odd to get use to, I'm use a loud brake. It works well, very well its just more a swoooch more hold but less bite I found. Never used ultimates as they are just that bit expensive for me, But I bet there stiffer than SD7.... Ali C is the main man so speak to though, Expert he is! =]

i was looking at the Shimano xtr

And the Avid Single Digit Sl

I'm not bothered about bite on the front just as long as the brake has got good hold

Of the two the Avids are far more suitable for trials use. The Shimanos have their whole 'parallel linkage' thing which tends to develop play after a while. The SDs would serve you well (Y)

Just remember, the arms only play a small part in the overall brake though - make sure you couple them with a decent quality outer cable and set it all up properly.
