Jan Tore
Setup: Echo Control 09 long frame, TR brake clamps, K810 chain. So, when the chain is set up perfectly, the rim is too far out for the brakes to be lined up with the grinded edge. So with the brake clamps adjusted all the way down, half of the pads are on the edge, and the other half is on the tire.. This was okay in the beginning, when 80% of the pads were on the rim, but now, when the chain has streched a bit, it's not possible to line up properly. I know a half link would help, but I don't want one, as they weaken the chain. Is this a matter of the brake mounts that are welded too high? Or is it something else? - Jan Tore
Luke Rainbird
What gearing are you running?
Mark W
Z610HX chains stretch a lot less than the K810s, so it'll keep your wheel in the right place more effectively.
Mikee
You could make a spoke tensioner to take up any extra slack in the chain when the wheel is far out as it will go with the pads still in line with the rim.
Canardweb
This is one of the main problem withthe Echo Control 09 frame. Specially if you ride 18:15 gear ratio. I have had one, I had to run a slack chain at first to solve the problem. You can either buy a new chain each month (if you ride as often as I use too) or some brake clamps with more adjustment. such as the Try all CNC ones. They solved my problem. N.Wood
This is my only issue with this frame. Its designed to run that very popular gear 18:16. I just have a slack chain, I'd rather have a brake that works. I replace my chain prety often too.
Filo
its desinged to use 18:15 with a halflink chain.
Jan Tore
Buying a new chain wouldn't help anyway, since even with a new chain, I can't get it 100%. I'm not sure which gearing I'm running to be honest, but changing that would be a possibility.
