Si whitby
What's the best front rim available if you want to run a disc?
N.Wood
For me, either Try-all Hole or Trialtech SL. Depends how strong you want it to be really.
Si whitby
I'm currently running an echo sl but would like to shed some weight. I was looking at the DOB mag rims or some xc types like the mavic x 717!
N.Wood
DOB mag rim would be OK if you're very light/very smooth. XC rims would be ok if you're not bothered about having the width to resist rolling on natural and stuff. I'd rather run a lighter hub on Hole or TT SL rim. craigjames
Aren't you running a Hope Pro 2 hub on the front Si? Get a lighter front hub and as Nick has said a TT or a Rockman/Try-all hole front rim. Saying that Joe is loving his Dob rims, but then he is a smidge smoother than you
dirt jumper jake
Atomz elitis.

To be honest mate i'd sell your King hub it's not overly light for a front disc hub, fine for an MTB but if you're wanting a nice light front wheel it won't help. Get an Echo TR hub or see if you can find a cheap Try-all disc hub.

Ali C
the eyelets are at such and angle, when the spokes leave the nipple they have quite a sharp bend in them meaning they will snap easier. Well that's for the rear ones anyway.

Bigman
As has been said, I would recomend either a try-all/Rockman hOle if you want something a little wider go for the trialtech! I have the best front rim, but its a completely custom DX32 with large square holes, drilled sidewalls and single walled, weighs less than a try-all/rockman rim! unless you ruin rims like me... How do you ruin them though, for a trials rim there realy isn't much need for eyelets, I have not had a rear rim with eyelets for atleast 5 years now and never had a problem! Ali C
as Adam said, eyelets dont really do a whole lot. People say you can get the spokes tighter, but that's not really true. I have never had a spoke pull through or crack the rim either in all my years of riding.
