hello, was that the barrow farm pipe section?looked well nasty from where i was standing

i try and reduce arm pump just by giving my hands a shake and stretching my wrists back and forth.doesnt eliminate completely but anything helps i guess.

Hey yeah was me, i fell of on the pipe section but that wasnt the bad fall. im not sure if you saw i fell from the massive cotton reel thing, i wasnt 100% confident with making the last gap to the reel becasue i knew if i didnt hold my brake hard enough that the roundness of the reel would chuck me off but i saw the finish line and went for it.... bad choice.

It's a bit grizzly, but here is something I found...

Surgical release of the forearm fascia (fasciotomy) is easily performed by an Orthopedic Surgeon. Fasciotomy is not a new or difficult procedure, and is more commonly performed in the leg than the forearm. It is commonly performed in trauma patients to treat or prevent acute compartment syndrome

By cutting the skin and then slicing the muscle's fascia (or actually removing a strip of fascia) the gristle-like compartment is opened up. This gives the muscles of the forearm room to expand.

Your forearm has four fascial compartments, and it takes two incisions to release all four. The first is a volar incision to release the superficial and deep volar compartments. The second cut is a dorsal incision to release the dorsal and mobile wad compartments.

The use of forearm fasciotomy for arm pump is very poorly documented in the medical literature. In the few studies that have been written up, the authors contradict one another on several points, including what constitutes abnormal compartment pressures and which compartments should be released.

In the forearm there is good evidence showing that compartments are often interconnected and effective release can be accomplished by releasing just the volar compartments.

Typically the operation can be done as an out-patient procedure (no need for an overnight stay). A cast isn't necessary and recovery time is brief. Training can start about two to three weeks after surgery, and a rider can return to competition in four to six weeks.

Physiotherapy management of recovery should optimize the result of the surgical procedure and reduce the chance of recurrence.

Arm pump's caused due to your forearms not getting enough Oxygen; as you grip and grip and grip the handlebars, it really restricts the blood flow.

Try opening and closing your fist as much as possible on the bars whilst riding, relaxing wherever possible and allowing as much blood as possible to get to your arms.

The right diet helps too! Foods such as Garlic, Pumpkin Seeds, Oranges, Nuts and Watermelon all have blood-flow boosting properties. :)

I know a few people who I ride motocross with who get arm pump and they say stretching the muscles in your arms before you ride helps :) I watched a video about it on YouTube once, it explained how to prevent it, I will try to find it for you later :)

i ride motorcross and motorbike trials and a bit of downhill. i am lucly enough to work with a Personal trainer whos boyfriend is a very good MX rider (does national champ stuff i think). she Adviced me to warm up before a comp to get the blood flowing (short jog), do plenty of toning exercises on the fore arms and make sure my posture is good as i may be putting more weight then needed through my wrists.

she really helped me with the motorcross arm pump and the down hill and i never get it in motorbike trials i will see if i can find her number if you want some propper help.
