Jamie_Trials
Metal backings are more sturdy and fit tighter around the O-ring, all good with the brake being stronger and all but you need to make sure that you've set your brake pads up square. If you don't they'll just wear on an angle, unlike plastic backings which kind of move until it suits.
Laurence--Trials
Metal backings give more solid braking but because of this they need to be set up perfectly square to your rim.
George.E
Are metal backings generally much better? Or are they more trouble than what there worth?
rab shropshire
i find that you get a far more solid lever feel with the metal backings, as long as they are set up nice and square, this is where some clamps like the echo tr come in handy (providing your mounts are square)
Luke Dunstan
And if your mounts aren't square, file them down.

Dec Whiteoak
the best pads for money are heatsinks, phat pads are good i have some but there not as good as heatsinks.
Guy Guy
hey all, i still didn't test the metal backing, but i did tried a lots of pads. i tried 4$ pads,5$,10$, and 15 GBP and i find that the cheapest is making less noise and holds better. so i don't feel like buying 30GBP brake pads. i rather save this money for an extra RIM or BB
