isitafox
As I'm on nights again this week I get very bored so need something to do at work. I plan on bringing some old rims in at some point to practice grinding them but also I came across my old blue maguras in my dads garage. Purchased for about £10-15 each all of 12 years ago I really don't care if they went in the bin and they nearly did but I thought is it worth giving them a clean up again? The paints pretty knackered on them and the evo clamps are only fit for the bin but is it worth stripping them down, quick clean up with some nitromors on the calipers and maybe saving the lever blades for something. I run 05's at the moment which means the levers are no good to me really but could the calipers be saved and is it worth it??
Ben John - Hynes
Deffo worth keeping. They're amazing brakes. I think I'd still run them if I had a decent enough set. A LOT of people still swear by them.
Dan6061
The lever blades on those are horrible! The later ones were rounded out more, so they're much more comfortable. Clean them up if you want, they're not exactly super-rare or anything though!
isitafox
Well I went at it, lever blades and calipers have been removed, crappy plastic lever bodies disposed of with the hosing which is definately well past it. Will bring some paint stripper and brake cleaner in tomorrow night and get them looking nice again. The joys of being bored!
Ben John - Hynes
In fact, ignore me. I thought they were early HS33s, they're not. They're cack. You did the right thing by keeping everything bar the bodies.
